Police are trying to trace a driver who allegedly left the scene after a car ended up in a drain in Marsiling in the early hours of Friday, 11 September.
The Singapore Police Force told Mothership that it was alerted to an accident along Marsiling Road towards Marsiling Drive at about 3.15am.
The car was believed to have self-skidded, while the driver had already left by the time police officers arrived.
Police said efforts to trace the driver were underway and investigations were continuing.
Witness Claims Driver Asked People Not to Call Police
A person who witnessed the incident gave Mothership an account of what allegedly happened before the driver left.
According to the witness, who said he had gone over to check whether the driver needed assistance, the driver allegedly asked people at the scene not to alert the authorities.
The witness further claimed that the driver left after somebody contacted the police. These claims came from the witness and have not been independently established by the police.
Mothership also reported that the witness believed the driver appeared intoxicated. However, there has been no police finding reported that the driver had consumed alcohol, so it remains an eyewitness allegation.
Video Shows Car Being Removed From Scene
A TikTok video recorded after the accident showed the aftermath, including a crane truck arriving to retrieve the vehicle.
Police did not provide details on what caused the car to leave the road beyond saying it was believed to have self-skidded.
Investigations are ongoing.
