Singapore’s women’s épée team won a historic bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games after reaching the semi-finals at Aichi Sky Expo in Japan on Thursday, 25 September.
The team of Filzah Hidayah, Kiria Tikanah Abdul Rahman, Esther Tan and Elle Koh secured the medal after defeating Uzbekistan 42-41 in a tense quarter-final that went into overtime.
Koh delivered the decisive golden point to seal Singapore’s comeback win after the team had trailed during the match.
First Asian Games Medal For Singapore Women’s Épée Team
The result marked the first time a Singapore women’s épée team has won an Asian Games medal.
Singapore had been eliminated in the quarter-finals in the women’s épée team event at the previous three Asian Games appearances.
After beating Uzbekistan, Singapore faced South Korea in the semi-finals but lost 35-45.
Under the competition format, there was no separate bronze medal match. Both teams that lose their semi-final matches are awarded bronze medals.

The bronze medal adds to Singapore’s fencing achievements at the 2026 Asian Games.
Kiria Tikanah Abdul Rahman had earlier won silver in the individual women’s épée event, while Maxine Wong won bronze in the women’s foil competition.
This brings Singapore’s fencing medal tally at the Games to three medals.
The women’s épée team’s achievement also marks another milestone for Singapore fencing, following the country’s individual medal successes at the competition.
