ICA Officer Admits Drink Driving After Crash, Having Claimed He Drank Only At Home

Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer Ken Ong, 35, has pleaded guilty after crashing his car and falsely claiming he drank alcohol only after returning home.

Mothership’s court report states that he admitted four charges: drink driving, driving without due care and attention, and two counts of knowingly giving false information to a public servant.

Claimed He Drank Beer After The Crash

On 14 June 2025, Ong drank whisky before driving. He hit a concrete barrier near Loyang Avenue, walked home, then returned with his father-in-law.

He told police he had drunk three beers at home after driving. He failed a breathalyser test and was arrested. His breath alcohol level was 76 microgrammes per 100ml of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

It was only on 19 June 2026, a year after the crash, that he told police he had been drinking before he got behind the wheel.
