The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) is following up after a concertgoer allegedly used an e-vaporiser during BIGBANG’s Singapore concert.
Responding to 8world’s queries on Monday, 26 October, HSA said it was aware of the incident and was following up. The authority also reminded the public that vaping is illegal in Singapore.
Footage Shared On Threads
BIGBANG held its concerts at the National Stadium on 17 and 18 October.
8world reported that a Threads user had posted footage allegedly showing a concertgoer vaping in the audience when the venue lights went out.
The person who uploaded the footage claimed that the concertgoer initially took a few discreet puffs before becoming more open about it. They also said in the comments that they had reported the incident to HSA.
The report does not establish what the device contained.
Possessing Or Using Vapes Is Illegal
Singapore prohibits the purchase, possession and use of e-vaporisers. HSA’s current enforcement guidance states that individuals can face a fine of up to S$10,000 for offences involving prohibited products.
The authority also says rehabilitation remains an intervention for repeat vaporiser offenders.
Members of the public who witness suspected vaping offences can submit information through HSA’s reporting portal.
They can also call 6684 2036 or 6684 2037. The hotlines operate daily from 7am to midnight, including weekends and public holidays.
