Woman Pleads Guilty to Helping Dispose of Megan Khung’s Body & Conspiring to Abuse Her

Nouvelle Chua Ruoshi pleaded guilty on Monday (26 October) to conspiring to abuse four-year-old Megan Khung, helping dispose of her body and consuming drugs.

CNA reported that sentencing arguments were scheduled for Monday afternoon.

Megan suffered prolonged abuse by her mother, Foo Li Ping, and Foo’s then-boyfriend, Wong Shi Xiang. She died in February 2020 after Wong punched her in the stomach.

Recorded Episodes of Abuse

Chua was a friend of the couple and would stay at their flat.

During Monday’s proceedings, the court was shown videos of Megan’s abuse, including footage Chua had recorded. Justice S Mohan warned those present that the clips were distressing and allowed anyone who wished to leave to do so.

Chua had neither sought medical treatment for Megan’s visible injuries nor reported the abuse to the authorities, CNA reported.

The High Court’s earlier judgment in the couple’s case documented how Megan was deprived of adequate food and clothes, and made to sleep in a planter box outside the master bedroom.

After arriving at the flat in the early hours of 22 February 2020, Chua saw Megan lying on the bedroom floor, holding her stomach and complaining of pain.

When Chua alerted the couple, they dismissed the child’s condition as attention-seeking. Chua then joined them in consuming drugs. Hours later, the three attempted to resuscitate Megan.

Helped Dispose of Megan’s Body

Megan’s body remained in the flat after the three left on 23 February 2020.

On 8 May, Chua drove Foo back to the flat, knowing the couple intended to dispose of Megan’s body that day.

The body was subsequently burnt in a metal barrel near a workshop. Wong later scattered the ashes into the sea at East Coast Park.

Mother and Boyfriend Already Sentenced

Foo was sentenced to 19 years’ jail on 3 April 2025 for allowing her daughter’s death, child abuse and disposing of her body.

Wong received 30 years’ jail and 17 strokes of the cane for culpable homicide, disposing of Megan’s body, drug trafficking and drug consumption.

Their sentences were imposed in separate proceedings from Chua’s guilty plea on Monday.
