The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has identified the 46-year-old driver filmed holding a vape following an East Coast Road accident, and recovered one vape and one pod from his home.
According to 8world, HSA announced the development in an Instagram Story on 28 October 2026. The man is assisting the authority with investigations.
Police Investigating Two-Car Accident
Police told AsiaOne that they were alerted to an accident involving two cars along East Coast Road at about 1am on 25 October.
No injuries were reported. The 46-year-old male driver is assisting with investigations into driving without due care and attention, and police investigations are ongoing.
Video Showed Roadside Confrontation
AsiaOne reported that footage shared by Instagram account sgfollowsall showed two men arguing near a bus stop, with a white car sporting a damaged front bumper nearby.
The accompanying post alleged that the driver had hit a parked car, nearly struck the other man and tried to drive away before being stopped.
Those details were allegations in the social media post.
Pod’s Contents Not Established in Report
8world’s report describes the items recovered as a vape and a pod. It does not establish that the pod contained etomidate or that vaping caused the accident.
Separately, HSA states that buying, possessing and using vaporisers is prohibited in Singapore. Under the penalties effective from 1 May 2026, individuals can face a fine of up to $10,000 for offences involving prohibited products.
