Kim Lim’s former assistant was sentenced to 22 months’ jail on 2 November 2026 after stealing the businesswoman’s S$73,000 Patek Philippe watch, misusing a company credit card and committing driving offences.
Tey Jing Wen, 33, had pleaded guilty on 8 October to five charges, including criminal breach of trust, theft and drink driving. Another five charges were taken into consideration at sentencing.
She was also fined S$3,500. If she does not pay, she will serve another 15 days in jail. Her two-year driving ban starts upon her release and prevents her from holding or obtaining a driving licence for any vehicle class.
Stole Watch & Red Packet Money From Safe
Court proceedings reported by 8world showed that Tey joined Lim’s beauty and wellness company, KL Health, as a human resources assistant in 2022. She later became a regional coordinator overseeing overseas operations and worked closely with Lim.
Lim entrusted her with the office safe’s code. After Lim forgot it, Tey became the only person who could open the safe.
Tey stole the Patek Philippe watch and red packets containing S$8,000. She also used the company credit card eight times at nightclubs between 21 and 26 May 2025, spending S$19,191.
While on bail for drink driving, she sold the watch for S$16,500 to someone who claimed to be a second-hand dealer.
She used part of the proceeds to repay the unauthorised card spending. The remaining proceeds and stolen cash went towards personal expenses.
Caught Driving Against Traffic Without A Licence
On 2 June 2025, while Lim was overseas, Tey drove a luxury car rented by KL Health without permission after work to meet a friend for dinner. They later went drinking.
Traffic police stopped her near Coleman Street in the early hours of 3 June after she drove against traffic. Her breath alcohol reading exceeded the legal limit, and she had neither a driving licence nor third-party insurance.
The credit card spending came to light only later. Tey’s work had slipped after her drink-driving arrest, prompting Lim to look into the matter internally.
At sentencing, the judge said Tey had abused the high degree of trust placed in her, including being entrusted with a credit card with a high spending limit, Lianhe Zaobao reported. Her use of the money for personal expenses also weighed against her.
