Sisters Stole S$1,324 Worth of Beauty Products to Fill Carousell Orders, Elder Sister Jailed 24 Days

Two sisters waited for orders to come in on Carousell before going to a beauty shop to steal the products buyers had asked for. The elder sister, 27-year-old Eunice Mashiro, was sentenced to 24 days in jail after pleading guilty to two of the three charges she faced, which included theft and cheating.

Sisters Met at the Lifts to Pack the Stolen Items

Shin Min Daily News reported that Mashiro’s younger sister proposed stealing skincare and beauty products from local shops and reselling them online for profit. Mashiro agreed, and each sister set up her own Carousell account.

After receiving orders, the sisters went to a mall on 4 May 2024. On the way there, they agreed that the younger sister would go into the shop while Mashiro waited outside with a suitcase.

The younger sister put eight products worth S$1,324 in a paper bag and left without paying. The items included sunscreen, perfume and foundation. She met Mashiro at the lifts, where they transferred the products into the suitcase.

The shop discovered the theft and called the police. Both sisters were eventually arrested.

Younger Sister Received 15 Months’ Probation

The court also heard that between 18 April and 12 June 2024, Mashiro repeatedly told an online womenswear retailer that clothes she had ordered had failed to arrive. The claims were false, and she asked the retailer to send replacements or give her a refund.

Her younger sister had pleaded guilty earlier and received 15 months’ probation, which places her under the supervision of a probation officer.
