Who doesn’t love money?
Especially free money?
But come on, let’s face it.
When someone tells you that they’re giving you money with no condition, you would think that they’re a scammer right?
But hey, it’s happening in Hong Kong!
According to Lianhe Zaobao, 53-year-old superstar Aaron Kwok is going to give ang pows to all Hong Kong citizens.
This was because of a promise he made 24 years ago, when he was just 29.

Basically what he said was that he promises to give everyone a red packet when he gets married in the future.
Maybe he thought that he was at the peak of his career and will never get married.
Well, you never what may happen!
The celebrity got married last year and already has a five-month-old daughter.
Fans quickly dug out this precious clip and asked he if is going to fulfil his promise.
As one who stays true to his words, Kwok says that he will do it.
He also shyly talked about how he was just a young boy, but now that he has a grown up, he has to take responsibility for his words.
We love a true ‘king’!
Reality
Hong Kong’s population stands at some 7.34 million people.
Even if he were to give a dollar (SGD 0.17) each, that would be a whopping 7.34 million HKD (SGD 1.24million)…
He knows that it would be impossible to visit every house to give them their ang pows, so he thought of combining all into one and donate all the money to United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
However, he did not disclose the amount that will be donated.
Thoughts
Even though nobody actually got money from the singer himself, it is still nice to know that he’s fulfilling his promise which was made when he was still a reckless youth.
What a great role model for the society!
