As many a loving pet owner will tell you, owning a pet is like having a baby.

The unconditional love and affection are there and you’ll still have to, mostly, pick up after your little darling and spend a whole lot of money on it, but at least your beloved pet won’t grow up and leave your “nest” empty to go to college.

Your pet will (usually) stay with you until the day it dies.

This is why it is always so heartbreaking to see how some of us humans treat these poor loyal animals when all the zest of owning and taking care of a pet wears off.

Throwing away the cat carrier with the cat still inside

As posted on her Facebook page that went viral, Munirah Hamid Hussain detailed her encounter with a poor abandoned cat.

Not only the cat was cruelly abandoned by its owner, but the way it was abandoned is also truly beyond cruel.

Based on her post, it seems like the heartless owner had thrown the cat carrier with the white-furred, odd-eyed Van cat inside right after he/she alighted from the lift at the HDB.

Being made of plastic and not designed to be thrown around like a garbage bag, the carrier naturally broke upon impact.

As a result of the incident, the poor kitty inside was truly traumatized.

As Munirah observed, the cat had pooped itself, likely during the terrible ordeal, and was shivering when she saw it.

Even when Munirah tried to feed it with some kibbles and water to get it to exit the carrier just so she could clean up the poop, the cat refused to respond to her gentle coaxing and remained stubbornly inside the carrier.

It still seemed incredibly shell-shocked and honestly, I don’t blame it.

SPCA to the rescue

Munirah called the SPCA and was told to stay by the cat’s side.

Eventually, the SPCA officer arrived and took the cat away.

Let’s hope someone will come along and adopt her. The cat definitely deserves a better and much more loving owner.

If you’re looking to adopt the poor kitty, please drop by the SPCA and let them know!
