Abby Choi’s Current Partner Vowed to Take Care of Her Children Including 2 From Her Ex-Husband

Recently, the news of Hong Kong socialite and model Abby Choi’s murder came as an intense shock to the whole world.

And while most of us (and the police) are still trying to gather all the details about what happened, Chris Tam, Choi’s current partner, has broken the silence and recently spoke about his partner’s passing through a friend.

In particular, he expressed his immense grief but vowed to continue to care for his two children and the other two that she had with Alex Kwong, Choi’s ex-husband.

Here’s what Tam and other people in Choi’s life have to say.

Said that His Wife Was Kind-Hearted, Cried Upon Learning of Her Passing

Based on reports by The Standard, Tam cried after being informed of Choi’s passing.

He had initially thought that she was only kidnapped and was still alive.

When talking about his partner, he recalled how she was extremely kind-hearted and would help anyone in need.

He also talked about how she was supportive and loving and even said that anyone who got to be her family member or friend was immensely blessed.

The Pair Never Actually Registered Their Marriage

However, despite their close relationship, Choi and Tam never registered their marriage legally.

Instead, they only had a wedding ceremony in 2016 after Choi divorced Kwong.

This means that Ms Choi’s assets will not be inherited by Tam but by the two children that Choi and Kwong had together.

Despite this, Tam is still identified as Choi’s husband in most reports.

Still Vows to Take Care of All Her Children

Regardless of their marital status and relationship, Tam still said that he would take on the responsibility of caring for all four of Choi’s children.

Yup, including the two that she had with Kwong.

Choi, who had another two children with Tam, would allow all four children to play together with Tam at her house in Kowloon Tong by fetching her children from her first marriage to her residence.

All four children also went to Disneyland together in the past.

Was a Beloved Daughter-in-Law As Well

Aside from Tam, Tam’s parents were also extremely fond of Choi.

Based on information from one of Choi’s friends, Choi’s parents-in-law were close to her and treated her as if she was their daughter.

They also spoke highly of her kindness and responsibility as a mother.

Her father-in-law, Tam Chuk-Kwan, once said that he did not see Choi as a daughter-in-law but rather as his own daughter.

As for her mother-in-law, Choi often took her mother-in-law out for dinner.

She also gave her mother-in-law gifts for her birthday and Mother’s Day every year.

Kwong and Tam Family Knew Each Other

Based on sources close to Choi’s family, the Kwong and Tam families knew each other before Choi’s passing.

In particular, Choi’s parents-in-law and Kwong’s family gathered together on multiple occasions.

Most recently, they even went to Tsz Shan Monastery together during the Chinese New Year holidays.

Other Friends Echo Similar Sentiments About Choi’s Kindness

Choi’s other friends have also spoken up about the 28-year-old socialite’s friendliness and kindness, especially towards people like helpers and drivers.

According to HK01, one of Choi’s friends and her husband have experienced extreme grief as a result of Choi’s demise.

That friend also contacted the Tam family and suggested that they remove all news applications from their devices to avoid any speculations about Choi’s passing.

Choi Co-Founded Organisation for Stray Animals, Tried to Save All Animals

Choi’s friend also revealed that Choi was an animal lover.

She even co-founded Paomes Charitable Organisation, which is an organisation for stray animals.

Apart from that, Choi was also insistent on trying to save all animals and even saved a cat that had been injured by a car.

The cat, which was also covered in flies, eventually survived, even though Choi’s friend initially thought that it would not.

The organisation also uploaded a tribute to thank Choi for her efforts and contributions to helping and saving stray animals.

“You had always helped animals and were loving and kind. Please rest in peace, and we will carry on your legacy,” they wrote.

More Details Regarding the Case

Since the emergence of the case, all four members of Alex Kwong’s family have been taken into police custody.

The four include Alex, 28, his 31-year-old brother Anthony, as well as their parents.

Anthony and his father, 65, have both been charged with murder, while Choi’s former mother-in-law, 63, has been charged with one count of perverting the course of justice.

Alex, whom Choi married when she was 18, claimed that he was unwell when arrested on Saturday (25 February) at a pier after a manhunt. He was taken to a hospital before being questioned.

When arrested, Alex was apparently “trying to abscond” and had HK$4.5 million (approximately S$774,000) in luxury watches and cash with him.

Local police also revealed that he had been on the run for six years for a different crime—his involvement in a gold investment scam.

Prior to her death, Choi had assured the Kwongs that she would still take care of them even after getting divorced from Alex.

Apparently, she even gave them HK$1 million (approximately S$172,000) to start an egg waffle business and did not hold it against them after the business failed.

Most recently, authorities made a gruesome discovery when they found various body parts, such as Choi’s head and ribs, in a cooking pot.

Other parts of her body, such as her hands and torso, are still missing.

According to local media, Anthony Kwong, who was Choi’s personal chauffeur, might have told Choi that he was driving her to pick her children up before driving her to the village house where she was allegedly killed.
