Dog That Was Repeatedly Abused by Former Owners Now Safe With AVS; Owners Under Investigation

For centuries dogs have walked by the sides of humans, faithful, loyal and beneficiary without ever requesting for payment (not that they can explicitly state it but thatā€™s beside the point).

In other words, they are our precious companions and guardians, and humanity can truly thank its blessings for their presence.

That is precisely why itā€™s so grating to see these critters get treated badly.

After all, for all the help and selflessness dogs have renderedā€¦

Itā€™s downright barbaric to subject them to such horrendous abuse.

Dog That Was Repeatedly Abused by Former Owners Now Safe With AVS; Owners Under Investigation

On Friday (26 Feb), non-profit organisation Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore (CDAS) shared about the plight of a particular dog called Lucky on the social media platform Facebook.

As it turns out, the name ā€˜Luckyā€™ is largely an ironic one.

According to the post, the dog had been subjected to a series of abuse under the charge of its previous owner, and was in such agony that he had actually ā€˜screamedā€™ on one particular occasion.

In fact, the various types of mistreatment afflicted upon him include:

  • Being forced to wear a metal item on his neck neck that looks suspiciously like a weight
  • Being dragged on the floor by two elderly ladies
  • Getting hit by a metal stick
  • Getting pinned down, struck on his face and being cornered to the wall as he whined loudly
  • Being muzzled or chained up with a leash

Following the abuse, the dog could be seen attempting to flee by squeezing his body through the gate.

On other occasions, when the gate was left open, the dog could be seen vacating the residence for the streets.

Thankfully, Lucky is now free of mistreatment, and is now looking for a new home.

As for his abusers, they are currently under investigations.

Outrage

Despite being posted on 27 Feb, the spine-chilling revelation has already garnered 322 comments and 1K shares on 28 Feb.

Netizens have also largely expressed their outrage, with many condemning the affiliated owners for their inhumane actions.

Some, however, were more worried about the long run.

This particular comment certainly brings to mind the two high-profile maid abuse cases that happened recently ā€“ with one ultimately proving fatal.

Animal Abuse

Itā€™s unnerving to think that Lucky is justĀ oneĀ of many abused cases in Singapore.

In July 2020, a man tied up a dog and filmed himself punching it.

According to my colleague, it was akin to beating up a ā€œragdollā€.

In December 2020, someone in Sengkang chopped off a catā€™s leg and left it some distance away from the mutilated carcass.

As for why they did itā€¦

I guess the reason is only known to them.
