It is the weekend and your friends have jio-ed (invited) you out for swimming or some sports today. Great plan with great weather, what could go wrong?
The venue has been booked with ActiveSG and all is well. But all of you can’t seem to get out of bed this morning and decided to just go for brunch instead.
Bad news, you might get banned for that.
People Who Booked ActiveSG Facilities & No-Show 3 Times Will Be Banned For 2 Weeks
The next time you book a slot at the swimming pool or gym, think again if you are willing to leave the comforts of your bed to get sweaty.
ActiveSG is now implementing a 2-week ban on people that did not show up to their bookings for three times or more.
The ban will be imposed starting from 1 October 2020.
Here are the rules and the details on the ActiveSG ban that you might want to take note of.
No-Show Policy – Members who do not turn up for 3 or more gym/pool bookings will have their membership suspended for 2 weeks. Members will be notified via email should their account be suspended. During the period of suspension, members will not be allowed to book any ActiveSG facilities.
Besides the no-show policy, ActiveSG has also implemented another change, probably due to the difficulty people have in booking for slots.
3-Day Advance Booking
From 1 Oct, users will only be able to book 3 days in advance.
Slots will only be available to the public for booking 3 days before the booked date at 7 am, right up till the usage time. For example, for usage on 1 Oct, members can start to book from on 28 September, at 7 am.
If the slots are gone, they’re gone. Fastest fingers first!
FAQ
You must be thinking now, “Oh no, what if something cropped up and I need to cancel? Can I still get a refund?”
The answer is, no. ActiveSG will not be refunding any cancelled slots and bookings. Refunds are only available when there is a lightning risk alert or when pool visibility is poor.
“Okay, but can I release the slot?”
Sadly, also no. By booking, you have confirmed that you will be utilising their space and preparations would have been made. If you do not turn up for your slots, others will not be able to use it too.
“Oh, that’s harsh. Why the sudden change? This is abrupt.”
Well, the ActiveSG committee noticed that incidence of default increases when members are able to book slots further in advance. Hence, members will now only be able to book gym/pool slots up to 3 days in advance instead of 14 or 15 days.
It is also implemented to prevent the hoarding of slots that others could be using.
Be Responsible
As the new implementation is imposed, let us all do our part in making sure that everyone else has a great experience exercising. By hoarding spaces and slots for ourselves, others who want the slots will not be able to utilise them.
