Construction sites in Singapore will have to use fire-retardant scaffold netting from March 2027, under new requirements aimed at reducing fire risks during building works.
The new rules will apply to scaffold netting used on the exterior of buildings, according to CNA on 24 September 2026.

Scaffold netting is commonly installed around buildings during construction, repair or maintenance works to provide a barrier around scaffolding and help contain debris.
From March 2027, such netting used outside buildings will have to meet fire-retardant standards.
