Remember Amos Yee?
Well, he was supposed to be free…but he has gone back to jail (again).
Convicted sex offender Amos Yee will spend another six months in a US prison after violating the terms of his supervised release. The 26-year-old Singaporean, who was initially set for release on 24 April, now faces a projected parole date of 7 November 2025.

Illinois Corrections Board Extends Yee’s Detention Following Violations
A search on the Illinois Department of Corrections website revealed Yee’s extended detention period. His projected discharge date has also changed significantly, now ranging from three years to life, with the final duration yet to be determined.
“Amos Yee is not eligible to resume mandatory supervised release until 7 November 2025, due to the Prisoner Review Board determining he violated the terms of his release,” a spokeswoman for the Illinois Department of Corrections confirmed.
The nature of these violations remains undisclosed by authorities.
Yee is currently housed in Danville Correctional Centre, a medium-security adult male prison located about a 2-hour and 40-minute drive from Chicago.
Under Illinois state law, an individual’s projected discharge date shows when they will complete parole, also known as mandatory supervised release.
Criminal History and Sex Offender Status Following Child Pornography Conviction
In case you’ve forgotten, Yee fled to the US in December 2016, one day before his scheduled medical examination for Singapore’s mandatory national service enlistment.
The former blogger received political asylum in the US in 2017 after claiming persecution for his political opinions. He had previously been jailed twice in Singapore for separate incidents.
While in the US, Yee committed serious offenses. In February 2019, he repeatedly asked a 14-year-old girl in Texas to send nude photos of herself, which he reciprocated with his own nude images.

Their message exchanges numbered in the thousands. Yee engaged in role-play and sexual fantasies with the girl despite her mentioning her age multiple times in their WhatsApp correspondence.
Authorities arrested Yee in October 2020. He received a six-year prison sentence at Illinois River Correctional Centre for grooming a teenage girl and possessing child pornography. Court records show he was convicted of these charges in December 2021.
Yee initially gained parole on 7 October 2023, three years ahead of his original 2026 release date. However, just one month later, in November 2023, officials returned him to prison.
