If one were to ask what are some of the greatest classic films that Hong Kong has ever produced, the title Infernal Affairs would most likely be mentioned.
Recently, the movie’s cast and producers gathered to celebrate the trilogy’s 20th anniversary by attending a screening of the remastered version of the movie in Hong Kong on 12 Dec.
After the screening, the 61-year-old Andy Lau told reporters that he plans to transform the classic masterpiece into a musical.
Hopes to Turn Film into Musical
When asked about how he is going to make the musical happen, Lau said that he does not know the timeline of events for now but he really has the motivation to do it and plans to do it as soon as possible.
He goes on to add that he can take on other roles as well instead of his original role.
Andy Lau was not the only one swamped by questions after the screening, with Andrew Lau, the Co-director of the movie also surrounded by reporters.
When asked if another sequel is possible, Andrew Lau says that it is not as the three-part movie is more than sufficient for a closure.
Despite saying that there will not be a sequel, Andrew Lau says that he is open to directing a new film with the original cast if given the opportunity.
Andy Lau and Others Received Lower Pay
According to Andrew Lau the movie would not have been made possible without the cooperation of Andy Lau and the other actors.
Andy Lau and several other actors took a pay cut in order to produce the film, said Andrew Lau.
Apparently, the actors in the movie agreed to a receiving lower pay after talking to the boss Peter Lam, who explained that the budget given to produce the movie was very tight.
They had so little budget to the point where they could only shoot 22 sets instead of 40 sets, which is the usual for any blockbuster movie.
What is Infernal Affairs about?
Infernal Affairs is one of those classic crime movies that no matter how many times you watch it, you will never get bored of its plot and the actors acting.

As the movie continues, both individuals find themselves lost as a person, no longer knowing if the things that they are doing are for the “good” or the“bad”.
Well, for the trilogy’s climax, we will let you find that out for yourselves as any additional information will spoil the movies for you.
