Last year August, when news about a Vending Machine Cafe opening at Sengkang hit the internet, netizens erupted.
Everyone wanted to take a look at this new concept. Bloggers, influencers and journalists paid a visit to the cafe and take pictures.
And of course, Sengkang people are happy and proud while the rest of us wallow in jealousy.
If you feel the way I do, fret not because what you’re going to hear next will cheer you up. Or at least people in the north and west will lah.
Vending Machine Cafe Opens at Ang Mo Kio MRT Station
On 13 June 2017, the first vending machine cafe at an MRT station officially open for business at Ang Mo Kio.
With more than 90 food and drink options, you’ll be spoilt for choice on what to da bao home when you’re too lazy to cook after work, and when the coffeeshops are all closed.
Included within the various options are 10 new items on the cafe menu like carrot cake, Thai green curry chicken and paella.
But that’s not the awesome thing.
Typically, vending machines need time to heat up frozen food within the machines. If you ever got sandwiches from the vending machine, you’d know what I’m talking about.
The waiting time is torturously long, especially when you’re hungry AF.
But the people behind the Vending Machine Cafe claimed that their machines only require 30 seconds to dispense the food to you, all because of their new technology which store the food chilled, not frozen.
A huge improvement from their previous 3-minute waits.
Customers will have to pay using cashless forms of payment which includes contactless credit cards, Android & Apple Pay or EZ-Link cards.
The best thing? Food sold at this cafe are priced below $6.
Another Vending Machine Cafe to Open at Lakeside MRT Station Next Week
Who says the West has nothing exciting going on?
Next week, another Vending Machine Cafe will make its appearance at Lakeside MRT station to cater to people living in the west.
Maybe after that, the queue for the vending machine is so long there’ll be a lesser queue at that single tiny bus stop beside the MRT station, eh? #FingersCrossed
