These are tumultuous times. And they do not seem to be getting any better. Fresh off news that the pandemic is back in all its vileness, it was just reported that there has been a potential case of murder revolving around a... Student in River Valley High School (RVHS). River Valley Case According to various reports, there has been a case of assault in RVHS. The Straits Times reported that the victim, a student, was allegedly killed in the incident. Apparently, someone had allegedly wielded an axe in the school between 11 am and 12 pm. A video of students sprinting was also taken in school. At around 1:00 p.m., a crime scene investigation van, an ambulance and at least four police vehicles could be seen at the school compound. Students were also told to stay in their classrooms, and were not let out for their lunch break (which was supposed to take place at 1:00 p.m.) It should be noted that the back gate was reportedly closed off. Students who needed to go, however, were permitted to after 2:00 p.m. The rest were situated at the school hall, and were attended to by school staff members. Investigations are currently ongoing. According to sources, RVHS entails a six-year Integrated Programme which allows students to hop their O Levels and instead head straight to the A levels in their sixth year. As such, the school has students aged from 12 to 18. An Hour Before In a prior report by Lianhe Zaobao, it was announced that two students had quarrelled before a gruesome incident, during which one of them received serious injuries. Other reports by online media outlets such as AsiaOne and MustShareNews have also compounded upon the claims, though the true nature of the incident has yet to be declared. It's also reported that the incident involved a secondary one student and a secondary four student. Investigations are still ongoing. At about 4:20pm, Education Minister Chan Chun Sing posted this on his Facebook Page: In case you can't read it: We are all shocked to receive news of the tragic incident at River Valley High School this morning. Our thoughts are with the families of the students concerned. Ministry of Education, Singapore is rendering all possible support to them, and the students and staff at the school. We are working closely with Singapore Police Force on the investigations, and they will be sharing more details on the case in due course. We are determined to work with parents and students to keep our schools safe and have our children grow up and learn together in a trusted environment. CCS 16-Year-Old to be Charged with Murder on 20 July In an update by the police, it's revealed that early investigations show that the the victim did not know the accused. The accused, a 16-year-old secondary-four student, will be charged with murder tomorrow (20 July 2021). The police have received a call at around 11:40am, and officers found the 13-year-old Singaporean boy lying motionless in a toilet at the school with multiple wounds. He was pronounced dead by a paramedic from the Singapore Civil Defence Force. They said, "Notwithstanding the preliminary findings and the arrest of the teenager, the police are continuing their investigations into the motive for the assault. An axe was also seized as a case exhibit."
