Or maybe you’re just sick and tired of heavy wireless mice in general. Well, Razer seems to have come up with the perfect mouse for you. Introducing the all-new Razer Mamba Hyperflux. Weighing in at just 96g, this wireless RGB-studded beast sports a 16,000 DPI 5G optical sensor, and combined with Razer’s own Adaptive Frequency Technology (which ensures your connection is as smooth and stable as possible) ensures you’re able to fling bullets and swords as accurately, fast and as far as you would humanly want. Or maybe you just want to move around the map fast enough in DOTA. That works too. The Razer Mamba Hyperflux also comes with a charging mat, dubbed the Firefly Hyperflux, and it’s largely responsible for the mouse’s wireless capabilities. See, the mat powers (note: it doesn’t charge it) the mouse on the fly through a magnetic field, allowing the mouse to be without an internal battery. (Credit: Anandtech) Let me repeat that, there’s no battery in this wireless mouse. Magnetic fields. If you think that sounds like some high-level sci-fi shit, I agree with you. Now I understand why it won the Best of CES 2018. The Firefly mat also comes with both a hard and cloth side, so you can use either one of them based on your own preference. Speaking of which, the mouse also comes with a micro USB cable port, just in case you need to lug the mouse around and don’t have the Firefly mat with you. Or maybe you just want the wired experience. Now before you get too excited and start flinging credit cards at Razer, there are several caveats with this mouse that you have to know. Although the mouse technically is wireless, it doesn’t exactly work away from the pad (unless you’re using the wired mouse) due to the absence of a battery. So technically, it’s actually still pretty wired up? To be fair though, the mouse does work for a couple of seconds away from the mat before dying. Just in case you need to lift your hand up for a few seconds for some reason. Also, due to the magnetic fields, Razer also discourages users from placing their phones on the mat itself. Sounds like a whole world of pain and inconvenience to me. If the magnetic field feels like a gimmick to you now, I’d like to let you know that you’re not alone here. That aside, I do believe that it still caters to audiences that really want, or in some cases need that lightweight aspect of it (like really hardcore gamers).
