Dee Kosh, real name Darryl Ian Koshy, is the main talk of the town right now:
He’s now getting investigated by the police and brands which used to work with him are seemingly distancing themselves from him.
People have turned up to call him out on his atrocious behaviour from years back and some have taken to speaking about their interaction with him.
AWARE Has Also Spoken About the Dee Kosh Saga; Provided More Content About Recent Interaction With Him
On 19 Aug 2020, AWARE Singapore took to their Facebook page to speak about the Dee Kosh saga, as well as explain their interaction with him.
They explained that a few weeks back, they were invited to Koshy’s podcast, The Tea With Dee, to talk about sexual violence.
Together with AWARE and Koshy on the show were two other guests who were victims of sexual violence.
During the show, AWARE said, Koshy was expressing sympathy and horror at their experiences.
If the allegations were proven to be true, AWARE is well aware that the survivors on the show, as well as those in his audience, will ultimately feel betrayed.
Nonetheless, they hope that while the hypocrisy of the conversation does not “override” the value of the conversation, in which the survivors said they felt “lighter, less alone, and more validated”.
AWARE added anyone who needs to can reach out to them for support.
Commends The Others For Being Brave Enough To Speak Up
To the individuals who have spoken up about their experiences (in the allegations against Koshy), AWARE commended them for their bravery in standing their ground, especially against a “powerful public figure”.
They also voiced support for Eliza Teoh who recently called out Koshy and fellow YouTuber Hirzi for cyber-bullying a 19-year-old girl for releasing a book.
The hatred incited against the girl was so much that she allegedly went overseas ‘for a few months’ because she was afraid of her safety in Singapore.
The other YouTuber who participated in the slugfest has publicly apologised for his actions.
