Sometimes grate things just end.
Like Tamiya car racing and ice cream bread uncles, some gouda things just can’t stay on for reasons the normal people can’t see.
And today… we bring news of a fallen delicious cheese tart…
NOO… Don’t say it… I’ve got a bad filling about what you’re about to say even though I’ve already seen it on the headlines…
But I’m no cheezus crust who can turn water into cheese tarts, and I must bring you this unsavoury news.
Bake Cheese Tart Closing Last Store In ION Orchard On 31 October
What? Why? 为什么?Kenapa? ஏன்? なぜだ!Perche? Weshalb?
Questions are surely racing through your mind, as did the comments show in the announcement.
This was the tart we thought would dethrone salted egg back in 2016. This was supposed to be our saviour with its long queues.
Even though it seemed like they were on the rise, the outlets at Westgate and Nex closed later.
You were the chosen one!
Now… we can only cry…
But wipe your tears, people! For when something dies…
Something else will rise from its ashes.
To Be Replaced By Croquant Chou Chou ZakuZaku
If your attention span is as short as mine, you probably are already wiping away your tears to make way for this new thing.
So let me tell you… Croquant Chou Chou Zakuzaku is actually Bake Cheese Tart’s sister brand and they specialise in stick cream puffs, also called Croquant Chou.
That’s right, this store is the original gangster that popularised the thing.
So you can expect this to be good.
According to Mothership, the Croquant Chou will be sold at $2.80 each or $10.50 for a box of 4.
Other than that, they will also serve ice cream made with Hokkaido milk, coated with croquant bits at $6.
You’re probably thinking, simi is croquant? It’s a combination of caramelised sugar and almonds, though the store seems to add egg whites and it results in the Zakuzaku or crispy texture.
The Hiyazaku, which is basically their Croquant Chou on steroids by filling it with ice cream, will be sold for $3.80.
I’m sorry ice cream sandwich uncle… but my stomach can only take so much ice cream…
