The year is 2064, and we’ve just entered Phase 437C of our safe reopening.
In the previous phase, all residents of Singapore were moved to Mars, where viruses cannot survive as well and durian grows in abundance.
Our vaccination rate remains at 81%, but we’re still trying to get more people vaccinated.
On your trip back to Singapore to retrieve more of your possessions, you’re shocked to see how empty and sad the country that you once called home has become.
Then, just as you’re about to leave, you spot two uncles fighting at a coffee shop even though they’re the only two people in there.
Yes, it seems that no matter what is going on in the world, there will always be uncles fighting at coffee shops (or hawker centres).
2 Men Fought for Seats at Bedok Hawker Centre; 1 of Them Even Stood on the Table
A video of a fight between two uncles is making the rounds on social media.
It was shared on the Facebook group Complaint Singapore on Wednesday (8 Sep) and has since garnered over 500 reactions.
The incident reportedly took place at a hawker centre at 538 Bedok North.
At the beginning of the video, we can see a man in a white shirt arguing with another man in grey. The man in white is standing atop a pair of chairs.
An elderly man then interjects and argues with the man standing on the chairs too.
It’s unclear what the men are saying, but something that the man in white said at the 40-second mark must have been highly offensive, because the man in grey suddenly approaches him in an aggressive manner.
The man that was previously standing on the chairs moved atop a table the moment he saw the man in grey approached him.
The two then start fighting and throwing punches at each other, or at least attempt to, while the man in white is still on the table.
I don’t know if you’ve ever brawled with someone while standing on a table, but it’s no easy feat, unless you happen to be Slenderman.
The elderly man joins in at one point, but fortunately, the three angry men are eventually separated.
What the men didn’t notice is that a woman in grey fell to the ground during the commotion, and had to be helped up.
It appears that the man in grey inadvertently knocked the poor woman down as he ran to the man standing on the table.
After the men calm down, they realise that the woman had fallen to the ground and help her back up.
Started Fighting After One Uttered Vulgarity
According to Lianhe Wanbao, the fight started after one of the men hurled a vulgarity at the other.
The incident took place on 8 Aug at around 11:20am. The men are believed to have fought over a seat.
Then again, their natural instincts as uncles might simply have taken over the minute they entered the hawker centre.
Scientific investigations into the matter at the Goody Feed office are ongoing.
