When an accident occurs at the office, such as spilling coffee on your boss’ computer or soiling your colleague’s chair, you can simply walk away and pretend you know nothing about it.
Boss: No you can’t… wait, that was you?!
But things are very different on the road. If you get into an accident, no matter how minor, the right thing to do is to stop and check on the other party to make sure they’re not hurt.
The two of you should then try to come to an amicable agreement on how best to settle the issue.
This biker, however, did something a little different.
Motorcyclist Without Number Plate Fled Scene After Rear-Ending a Car at Sims Ave
A video of a motorcyclist fleeing the scene after slamming into the back of a car has made the rounds on social media.
Footage of the accident, taken by the car’s rear camera, was shared on SG Road Vigilante’s YouTube channel.
The clip starts with a motorcyclist riding behind a car. According to the post, the accident took place along Sims Avenue.
The biker seems to have been breaking the law even before the collision, as no licence plate could be seen on his bike:
In the next few seconds, the biker’s expression is strikingly similar to mine when in History class; staring into the distance, thinking of absolutely nothing.
This is perfectly harmless in a classroom (for the most part) but not on the road.
It’s at this moment that the car in front jerks to a complete and sudden stop, causing the daydreaming biker to rear-end it.
The impact brings the biker’s mind back to the road, and he starts checking his surroundings to assess the damage. He also pads his body to make sure he hasn’t sustained any injuries.
He then turns towards the driver who says something to him, and gives him the thumbs up in response.
From this, we can assume that one of the following happened:
- the driver asked to meet at the side so they can attempt to settle the issue
- the driver asked if the biker what he thinks of our COVID-19 response
Given how these accidents usually go, it was probably the former.
So, the car and bike continued moving, with the driver expecting the motorcyclist to stop at the side of the road after the pair made a left turn.
But the biker fled the scene instead.
Until this biker is caught, netizens will continue to speculate about just what that thumbs up meant.
Don’t hit and run, kids.
