Unless you’re on the rooftop of a multi-storey carpark, finding a parking lot on this tiny island can be a tough task.
Sure, we could just wait for a car to vacate its lot, but Singaporeans do not enjoy waiting for things unless it’s outside a newly-opened fast food establishment.
So, we’re usually forced to park further away from our home, forcing us to expend energy.
Fortunately, if you rent a BlueSG car, you’ll have a nice little designated lot waiting for you when you arrive at your destination.
And no one would dare park there, right?
Right?
Hello?
Inconsiderate Driver Spotted Parking Normal Car In BlueSG Lot
A peeved BlueSG car driver took to social media to vent his frustrations about a driver who had parked in a lot reserved for BlueSG cars, preventing him from docking.
The man detailed the incident in a post on the Facebook group SG Road Vigilante.
The BlueSG driver had reportedly driven to an outdoor carpark near Block 118 Hougang Avenue 1 on Wednesday (19 Aug) where he was supposed to dock.
However, he found what appears to be a black Honda Stream illegally parked in the lot reserved for BlueSG cars.
The BlueSG Blues
As a result, the BlueSG driver could not dock the car at the charging station, which presented a problem.
For the uninitiated, BlueSG is a Singapore based company providing electric car sharing services.
The cars are parked at different carparks throughout the country and all a customer has to do is reserve one on their app and pick it up from the specified lot.
When they want to return their cars, drivers have to park at designated BlueSG parking lots and dock the vehicle at the charging stations.
Since the rental session only ends when the car has been plugged in, the man above was frustrated because he was still being charged, and that too by the hour.
He had to temporarily park at the side of the road as a result.
Honda Driver Allegedly Has 17 Unpaid Traffic Fines
A netizen who did some digging discovered that the black Honda driver isn’t a fan of parking rules in general.
The man had incurred 17 traffic fines since 2018, all of which are reportedly unpaid.
In total, the fines amount to $1,650.
Vehicles Could Be Clamped or Towed Away
Speaking to MS News HDB said it has issued a parking offence notice to the owner of the black Honda.
It warned that the driver could face stricter penalties including court action if he continues to disregard parking rules and fails to settle his traffic fines.
As for the rest of us, motorists who park illegally at reserved lots, like the one above, face fines of $35, $70, and $100 for motorcycles, cars, and heavy vehicles respectively.
Motorists could even have their vehicles clamped or towed away, if they are uncooperative.
They could also face a composition fine of $400 or court action.
Yes, there are times when you can’t wait to have that steaming bowl of Wanton Mee but there are no lots available, but why make things difficult for other motorists?
We motorists should be a little more gracious, not just on the roads, but in carparks too.
