This phrase held true for the Malaysian-born actress, Bonnie Loo.

Bonnie first revealed that she had broken up with her partner on Yes 933 DJ Hazelle Teo’s YouTube talk show, HTHT.

However, she only provided details behind the breakup during her interview with 8world and on Mediacorp’s YouTube series, JustSwipeLah.

But before we delve into the nitty-gritty details of her ex’s actions, let’s take a moment to get to know the remarkable actress herself.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the local media industry, Bonnie Loo is a 29-year-old Malaysian singer and actress based in Singapore.

In 2013, she participated in a reality singing competition, Campus Superstar, and emerged as a champion, earning herself a contract with Mediacorp that kickstarted her career in the local entertainment industry.

While this achievement was huge, what was even more remarkable is the fact that she was the first woman to win the competition.

She is not only great at singing but acting as well. She had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress at Star Awards for her roles in Tiger Mum (2016), Mightiest Mother-in-Law (2018), and even Key Witness (2022).

In 2021, she won the title of Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes at the Star Awards. Her popularity has soared, amassing over 150,000 followers on Instagram and 50,000 followers on Tik Tok.

Reasons Behind Her Breakup

When speaking to 8world, Bonnie revealed that her ex had spent a year pursuing her before she agreed to date him.

The man in question, is not in the showbiz industry but has lots of friends in the industry.

She kept her relationship as a secret for the sake of privacy, but people close to her such as her friends, family and colleagues were aware of her relationship.

During their two-year relationship, Bonnie noticed that her ex was very close to a female friend who also happened to be in the showbiz industry.

Her ex always told her that they were “just friends”. However, she later found out that this “friend” stayed in his home. As if that wasn’t suspicious enough, his mum told her that the woman was sleeping in the same room as the room that she had rented did not have a bed.

After her ex sold his home, he asked Bonnie if he could stay with his female friend temporarily, as she offered him rent at a cheap rate.

Unbeknownst to Bonnie, he had already move in with that friend. One can’t help but wonder why he didn’t simply stay in the same house with his girlfriend, right?

Additionally, her ex had never invited her to any gatherings he had with his friends, but his female friend was present on most occasions. After enduring this situation for a while, she decided to confront both of them to hash things out.

Here’s the kicker.

During the talk, they emphasised that they were platonic friends but still referred to each other as “soulmates”.

If I were Bonnie, my soul would have felt like it had left my body upon hearing that.

Bonnie told 8world that if they were truly soulmates, he should not have entered a relationship with her and pursued the other woman instead. Such a decision would have undoubtedly spared her from the mental gymnastics that their relationship entailed.

Her Ex Owes Her a Six-Figure Loan

During her JustSwipeLah interview, Bonnie mentioned that she wishes to break off all contact with her ex; however, she still maintains contact to discuss the repayment of a loan she gave to him.

Her ex faced challenges with his business during their relationship and needed her help.

Hence, she loaned him a six-figure sum, thinking that they would be spending the rest of their lives together. Her ex has given her a timeline in which he would repay her the sum.

Bonnie also shared that she has learnt not to ignore red flags and is actively working on healing and loving herself. She mentioned that she plans to channel more effort into her career and will only consider entering another relationship when the right time comes.
