You might have already heard that Ms Liz Truss resigned as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) on 20 Oct after not being able to keep the promises she made when she was running for the position, thus losing the trust from her party.
The resignation effectively makes Ms Truss the shortest-serving prime minister in UK history with a tenure of 45 days.
Now, you might be asking that with this sudden resignation, who will be the next PM of the UK? The answer might be the former PM, Boris Johnson.

Boris Johnson Supported by Many
The former PM, Mr Boris Johnson is the most popular choice among the Conservative Party to succeed Ms Truss.
This is evident with a quarter of the Members of Parliament (MPs) declaring their support Mr Johnson.
Mr Johnson currently has 38 backers who supports him to be the next PM. His competitors, Mr Rishi Sunak, the former Finance Minister and Ms Penny Mourdant, Leader of the House of Commons, have 27 and 12 backers respectively, according to the latest tally by Guido Fawkes.
Individuals are required to win 100 nominations from the MPs to get on the ballot, which essentially means that only three people can effectively contest for the position.
Some Doubt Johnson’s Capabilities
Although Mr Johnson has received the most votes so far, there are some who do not think he will be able to reach the threshold of 100 nominations.
With some saying that Mr Johnson will get no more than 60, his close friends have advised him not to run for the position.
Mr Johnson is currently still on his holiday in the Caribbean and has limited time to return to the UK to start his campaign.
Mr Johnson previously served as Prime Minister from 24 July 2019 to 6 September 2022. He resigned after being involved in various scandals and being heavily criticised for a few of his policies.

Rishi Sunak is the Other Favourite
Mr Sunak, who is also a former Chancellor, is also getting a lot of attention from various MPs.
He is preparing for his campaign from his constituency to get a second chance to become Prime Minister again after losing to Ms Truss in the final round of the last Tory contest on 5 Sep.
More than 20 Tory MPs publicly declared that they intend to Back Mr Rishi.
Many including former foreign secretary Mr Dominic Raab praised Mr Rishi as the “most qualified” candidate to lead the country through the economic crisis, supposedly also because of his status as the Ex-Finance Minister for the United Kingdom.
