Don’t we always hear our parents nag at us to have our breakfast before we go to school/work but we brush them off by telling them we are not hungry, but end up having to listen to our stomach growl halfway through lesson/work?

Indeed, they are right. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Why? It breaks the overnight fasting period, replenishes your supply of glucose and provides other essential nutrients to keep your energy levels up throughout the day.

Lucky for us, we have fast-food chains within walking distance that has a breakfast menu catered specially in the mornings. The question now is – which is better?

They have this special breakfast set called ‘Grab and Go’ which is only available on weekday mornings. This is especially good for those who are in the rush and would like to have a complete meal at a lower price. The Set A is with Sausage McMuffin, Set B is with Egg & Cheese McMuffin and Set C is with Sunshine Roll Chicken Ham. For the hashbrown lovers, you can also opt for the Set D & E which is the Breakfast Wrap Sausage and Breakfast Wrap Chicken Ham.

All of these sets comes with a drink – either coffee or tea. Of course for those who do not drink coffee nor tea, you can opt for a packet of Ribena or milk at no additional costs. Their breakfast muffins and wraps have been labelled by the Health Promotion board to be higher in whole grains (i.e. healthier). The set meals are priced from $3.00 to $4.20. So we have a complete meal which is on the healthy side at a reasonable price.

They have weekday deals for their breakfast menu, and prices are from $3.50 to $4.90.

The deals include the all-time favourite twister wrap which is priced at $4.90 with a regular ice milo and hashbrown. The buns they used are wholemeal buns that add more fibre into our diet as compared to regular buns.

They also assured us that the eggs are fresh (because who would want to eat an egg which is going bad and wind up having the runs in the morning). For those who loves to have porridge in the morning, KFC has their special AMporridge which tastes just simply amazing.

They are packed in styrofoam containers which allow you to have a steaming hot porridge even after you’ve reached your destination.  The crowd in KFC is usually small and the waiting time would not take too long either.

For the toast lovers, Long John Silver’s breakfast is a must have. They have a variety of sandwiches to choose from – from fish to chicken sausage. The toast is thicker than normal toast as well so you’ll be guaranteed to have a superb filling breakfast. If you’re not a huge fan of thick toasts, you can also go for their porridge sets. From chicken to salmon porridge, surely there’s one that would suit your likings. You can also add on 2 soft boiled egg for extra protein to last you till a late lunch/early dinner.

The final verdict: all 3 fast food restaurants offer different breakfast sets for people who enjoy different types of food in a price that is relatively similiar. The good news is, they are usually found within walking distance from wherever you are hence you will never need to worry too much on where to get your breakfast from when you’re in a rush.

In other words, it all depends, really, on which chian is nearer to your house or office.
