Great news for folks living at Buangkok.
A new hawker centre, the Buangkok Hawker Centre, will be opening in Sengkang Grand Mall this coming November 2023.
The best part? It will have over 30 stalls and, looking at the pictures, is bright and airy.
Here’s what you need to know.
A New Hawker Centre, Buangkok Hawker Centre, to Open at Sengkang Grand Mall in Nov 2023
Apparently, netizens noted that the hawker centre’s infrastructure had been ready for quite some time.
To whet the excitement even more, a giant skylight helps bring more light into the dining space.
Light and airy, indeed.
Facebook page Sengkang to Punggol & Singapore Food, Property & PCN Cycling shared images of the amenities within the hawker centre on 19 August 2023.
Then, a signage indicated that the hawker centre will open its doors to hungry diners in Q3 2023.
While it seems that that won’t be happening, the grand opening isn’t that far off either.
The Buangkok Hawker Centre will be launched in November 2023, according to the hawker centre’s website.
In addition, you can look forward to a variety of over 30 stalls at the hawker centre.
The hawker centre has been seeking for stall applications since 18 August 2023, and the application period closed on 4 Sep 2023, Monday.
According to the application form, it seems that stallholders have to adhere to a set of conditions, including:
- Serve at least two mealtimes
- Open five days a week
- Operating at least eight hours a day
Hopefully, this means that there will not be a lack of food at the hawker centre at all times.
The Sengkang Grand Mall
The Sengkang Grand Mall has officially opened its doors to shoppers on Monday (6 March), with a grand selection of food options and retail stores so you can shop until you drop.
For those wondering why a hawker centre would be located within the mall instead of a food court, that’s because the Sengkang Grand Mall is the northeast’s first integrated development.
Not only is it a shopping mall, but it also has a hawker centre, childcare centre and residential units.
Unfortunately, CATBAKE, the cat-themed bakery, did not open its second outlet at the Sengkang Grand Mall.
According to reports, the bakery had found the store area “not ideal”.
A spokesperson explained that the CATBAKE brand was put up on the directory before confirmation.
