A 25-year-old bus enthusiast was sentenced to 16 years’ imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane on 24 Mar 2025 after pleading guilty to sexually violating multiple teenage boys he met through the bus-spotting community.
The Singaporean man, who worked as a warehouse assistant before his arrest, admitted to four charges: raping a 13-year-old boy, sexually exploiting the same victim, sexually assaulting a 14-year-old by penetration, and voyeurism against a 21-year-old.
Seven other similar charges were taken into consideration during sentencing.

Sexual Offenses Against Bus-Spotting Community Members
Between 2018 and 2022, the man committed sexual acts against five male victims aged between 13 and 21 years old.
A gag order prevents the publication of both the offender’s and victims’ identities.
The offences came to light when another member of the bus-spotting community, in whom several victims had confided, filed a police report on 17 Oct 2022.
The man was arrested a week later on 24 Oct 2022 and has remained in remand since.
In one case from November 2018, the man, then 19, invited a 14-year-old boy and his friend to his home after they had been spotting buses together.
While looking at photos and videos of buses on the man’s computer, he suddenly asked the 14-year-old for oral sex. When the boy refused, the man later pushed him onto the floor and forced him to perform the act.
The victim later shouted at him: “Why did you do that to me?” before both boys left the man’s home.
Justice Valerie Thean noted during sentencing that this victim later suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder following the incident.

Pattern of Exploitation and Control
The court heard how the man’s predatory behaviour extended to other victims, including a 13-year-old boy he met at a bus interchange in 2020.
From August 2021, the man, then 22, began sending sexual messages to the boy and requesting intimate photos and videos.
He became controlling, demanding daily meetings and frequent calls.
When they had disagreements, he would demand photos of the boy’s genitals as “punishment” and would take photos of the boy in his school uniform.
Between August 2021 and March 2022, the boy sent videos of himself stripping and showering at the man’s request.

The sexual acts escalated between August and December 2021, with the man forcing the 13-year-old to perform oral sex on him.
Prosecutors said the boy found these acts disgusting but didn’t know what to do. The abuse only stopped in March 2022 when the victim threatened to lodge a police report.
In another case from 2022, the man secretly filmed a 21-year-old victim urinating in a public toilet.
Despite being told to leave, he remained in the wheelchair-accessible toilet and captured a 21-second video showing the victim’s genitals. This video was later found on the man’s phone by police.
During sentencing, Justice Thean stated that while some consideration could be given to the man’s age at the time of the first offence, it would not be significant given all the facts of the case.

Deputy Public Prosecutors Sarah Siaw and Darren Sim said “The accused was a serial sexual predator who exploited multiple teenage boys. This conduct is both harmful and deplorable, and the sentence imposed should send a clear signal that preying on the young will not be tolerated.”
The man’s lawyer, Mr Cory Wong, had asked for a jail term of not more than 12 years and two months, highlighting his client’s genuine remorse shown through cooperation with authorities and early guilty plea.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Siaw noted in her submissions: “What should have been an innocent hobby group for bus enthusiasts became an avenue by which the accused gained unfettered access to adolescent boys, whom he then violated in revolting ways over several years.”
