I am pretty sure online shoppers know Tabao, one of the largest customer-to-customer online platform in the world.
Taobao is founded by Jack Ma—the brainchild of Alibaba—and it ranks number 11 on the list of the top 15 most visited sites in the world.
I can hear eBay and Amazon snivelling in one corner.
Yes, I am talking about the billionaire who has been eating instant noodles for lunch for the past 18 years.
Okay back to the actual star of the story, Taobao.
You can get anything under the sun, from food, furniture to even jets.
Yes, jets.
According to the official Xinhua news agency, two Boeing 747 jumbo jets were auctioned off for nearly US$ 48 million yesterday (21 Nov).
The said jetplanes were from now-defunct carrier Jade Cargo International which filed for bankruptcy in September, BBC reported.
Then, a court in the southern city of Shenzhen seized the jets and has been looking for a buyer ever since.
After six failed attempts, they decided to use Taobao.
I bet they were like if there is one platform that can sell anything, it has to be Taobao!
Or maybe something along those lines.
They were up for sale on Monday and who knew those bad boys would be sold off the following day to Chinese carrier SF Airlines.
You know the saying, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
And in case you were wondering, it was a trio of jets.
According to Channel NewsAsia, the third jet could not be sold because there was only one buyer registered for the action.
Anyone looking for a jet? Maybe this is your chance to grab one.
