Road rage. An incensed display of emotions when something grating occurs on the road. Unexplainable even with the most scientific of brains, this phenomenon has seen many drivers lose their cool and resort to relatively “unprofessional gestures”…
Such as the following instance.
Car Caught on Camera Trying to Knock Down Motorcyclist After Road Rage
Thought Bumper Cars can only be played in Carnivals?
Think again.
Just yesterday (13 August 2023), SG Road Vigilante posted an eye-opening clip on its Facebook page, where a driver could be seen attempting to knock a motorcyclist off his perch.
In the 1:38 min clip, a white Honda Shuttle could be seen turning into the main road without checking, nearly clashing with an incoming motorcycle in the process.
Perhaps infuriated at the close call, the motorcyclist showed a hand gesture to the driver: a five-fingered open palm motion that almost screams, “wth was that?”
It didn’t stop there, either. When the car edged closer, the motorcyclist turned around with another hand gesture, this time a seemingly more “offensive” one.
Unfortunately, this seems to have ticked off the driver. With a sudden burst of speed, the Honda Shuttle caught up to the motorcyclist and proceeded to “nudge” it from the side.
A friendly reminder that this isn’t Mario Kart.
In retaliation, the motorcyclist flipped him the bird.
This appears to have been the final straw, as the driver put on another burst of speed and cornered the motorcyclist into the side of the road.
The driver then exited his car and engaged in a heated dispute with the motorcyclist.
“Are you a pai kia?” he asked. In case you’re too young to know, the term “Pai Kia” is slang for “hooligan” or “gangster”.
“If you’re a pai kia, get off now,” the driver continued.
He also challenged the motorcyclist to call the police, stating that he had evidence on his side.
“Call the police now,” the driver said. “I have a camera that captured you flashing this (middle finger). Come, call the police now.”
The incident purportedly occurred on the morning of 10 August 2023, somewhere along Pasir Panjang Road.
Apparently, traffic police turned up and heard stories from both sides.
Though unspecified, it seems the TP had let both parties go after saying no one was injured.
The post has since gone viral, garnering over 97K views and a whopping 500+ comments. You can view the full video down below:
Netizens React
Following the “event”, Netizens turned up in droves to condemn the driver, though some have also called the motorcyclist out for his actions.
Many also took the liberty of summoning the “online cops”.
Meanwhile, several also wondered whether the driver would have dared to do the same in Malaysia.
Road Rage
Unfortunately, road rage antics are far from being uncommon.
Just earlier this year, two men came to blows after road rage tension escalated beyond control.
Several other members assisted the man in red in what was deemed a “family fight”.
The man in blue, however, was effectively Rambo: going solo.
Interestingly, the man in blue may have been the winner.
As for the Pasir Panjang Road incident, only time will tell who the ultimate victor will be.
