On 11 Aug, local actress Carrie Wong posted pictures of her new penthouse on Instagram with the caption: “My lil milestone”.
Doesn’t seem “lil” to us.

From what we can see, the high-floor apartment has a high ceiling and a staircase leading to a second floor, and has a great view from the balcony with lush greenery right below.
The post includes pictures of the 30-year-old holding a pineapple, standing at the balcony and in the living room, as well as a video footage of her rolling the pineapple into the living room.
In Chinese customs, it’s believed that rolling a pineapple into a new home will bring prosperity because the Hokkien pronunciation of the fruit is “onglai” which can also mean “prosperity come”.
Looks like Carrie followed more than just the pineapple belief, as seen from one of the photos of some fresh fruits and huat kueh, with her dog making a special appearance wearing an outfit that says “bring wealth” in Mandarin.
We’re not sure about the dog, but it is believed that carrying auspicious items like fresh fruits when entering the house for the first time will attract more wealth.
Congratulatory Comments from Other Celebrities
The post received many comments from local actors and fans who congratulated her, with some celebrities asking for invites to her housewarming, like Chantalle Ng who commented with much excitement: “HOUSE WARMING!!!!!!!”
Meanwhile, most of us can only dream of receiving such an invite.
Some also joked about her immense strength when rolling the pineapple. Indeed, it seems like she’s had quite a bit of bowling practice before this.
About Carrie Wong, Who was Discovered Through Hey Gorgeous
Carrie was a final-year student in Nanyang Polytechnic when she was scouted in 2013 for the reality television series Hey Gorgeous, a local talent-scouting competition with tertiary students as contestants.
Shortly after coming in as second runner-up in the competition, Carrie won her first Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes award at the Star Awards 2015, and has since won the same award for another eight times, making it nine consecutive times that she has gotten it.
This means that she is now just one more away from making it as an All-Time Favourite Artiste and joining artistes like Ann Kok and Jesseca Liu, who won this award in the recent Star Awards 2024.
Celebrities Buying Homes a Trend?

In the same year, actor Ian Fang bought a new two-bedroom condo in Bendemeer, while actress Hong Ling bought a freehold Balestier condo at Balestier.
