Yesterday (14 Dec), hearts across the country broke as we learned the fate of Xyon, a cat in Sengkang that was hideously tortured and killed.

On Saturday (12 Dec), cleaners at Block 470B in Fernvale Link stumbled upon the mutilated carcass of a cat lying a pool of blood.

One of its limbs had been severed, and was found some distance away from its body.

A knife was later found near the bloody scene by a cat rescuer, Fiona Loh, who detailed the incident in an Instagram post.

The authorities have been notified, and investigations are ongoing.

While she was at the scene, Loh stumbled upon another community cat, and took it away in case the abuser returned.

Now, the rescued cat is looking for a forever home.

Used to Eat With Xyon

In another post on Instagram, Loh said that the cat she rescued, named Wakandah, used to be good friends with Xyon.

They used to eat together and were usually by each other’s side.

According to Loh, Wakandah ran away from the scene of the brutal killing when she heard screaming, but when she returned, she found Xyon’s dead body with a limb missing.

Loh said this horrific incident has left Wakandah traumatised. She’s been afraid to return to that location ever since.

As a result, Loh has decided to rehome poor Wakandah.

Cat Has Been Over-grooming Out of Stress

When Loh brought Wakandah to the vet, bald patches were found on the cat’s fur, which, according to Loh, is consistent with stress-related over-grooming.

Thankfully, the cat is otherwise healthy.

She has been spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and vaccinated.

Needs Time to Warm Up to Humans

Just like introverts, Wakandah needs time to warm up to humans, which could even take up to a week, Loh said.

She’s still hiding in dark corners, perhaps out of fear, but is very affectionate once she’s certain she won’t be harmed.

This is understandable, of course. The little feline’s been through quite a lot.

If Wakandah has stolen your heart and you’d like to welcome her into your home, you can find out more about the adoption process here.

After what happened to her poor friend, we’re sure there’ll be no shortage of potential adopters waiting to bring little Wakandah back home with them.
