Picture this:

It’s the day of your practical driving test and you’re adequately prepared to parallel park your car and weave your way through that mysterious S-course that you will likely never encounter in real life.

You imagine driving to school and impressing all your friends, especially that crush of yours who is currently unaware of your existence.

So, you enter the driving centre, hand over your phone to show you’ve registered your visit, and prepare to head inside.

But then you’re stopped and told that you won’t be able to enter the centre because you  might have been exposed to a COVID-19 case recently.

Sounds awful, right? Welcome to the coronavirus pandemic.

ComfortDelgo Driving Centre Prohibits Entry to People with ‘Possible Exposure’ on TraceTogether App

Some students who turned up at the ComfortDelGro Driving Centre (CDC) for lessons recently have been turned away after their TraceTogether App showed they had been in close proximity with COVID-19 cases, reported ST.

Unbeknownst to some CDC students, the driving centre made an announcement on the matter on Monday (3 May) on its website.

“For entry into ComfortDelGro Driving Centre, please note that the TraceTogether App is required. As a safety precaution, entry will not be allowed should your TraceTogether App display ‘Possible Exposures’,” it said.

CDC encouraged students whose theory or practical lessons fall within the 14 days from the date of “possible exposure” to cancel them online in advance.

Those who have lessons scheduled on the same day or the day after they became aware of the notice can submit this Possible Exposure Cancellation Request Form.

“Lesson fees will be refunded into your store value account within three working days upon cancellation,” CDC said.

The form requires students to furnish their Learner ID, their last possible exposure date, as well as the venues where the possible exposures occurred.

Students With Trace Together Tokens Not Allowed to Enter?

One Redditor who visited CDC recently said he was asked to show the home screen of the TraceTogether (TT) app, where possible exposures to COVID-19 cases are indicated.

Naturally, others asked what would happen if they only brought their TT token.

Well, they would be denied entry, according to some.

As one Redditor explained: “At CDC they do not have the SafeEntry gateway box for token check-ins, so it’s smartphone only and the entry staff checks everyone’s TT app for the possible exposure status.”

So, if you happen to leave your smartphone at home, or if your TT app indicates a possible exposure, you may not be allowed entry into the driving centre.
