I’m pretty sure you’ve heard about the whole Facebook hoo-ha concerning DJ Lim Peifen and a netizen by the name of Kailin Ng.
Yes, that one! One point for you, well-informed citizen.
Now, according to a report done by Stomp, DJ Lim Peifen has responded to the wave criticisms that have been brought forth by Kailin’s army of angered “common Singaporeans”.
Facebook User’s Son Was Denied Entry at Jewel Attraction
For the benefit of those who have yet to read about the happenings, here’s what went down.
On 3 December, 30-year-old housewife, Kailin Ng took it up to Facebook to write about her experience at Jewel’s Christmas-themed attraction, the Snow Walk Spectacular ash the Topiary Walk.
According to Kailin’s post, her son Aden had been denied entry because of improper footwear. Aden had been wearing open-toed sandals on the day of their visit.
A couple of days after the incident, Kailin stumbled upon a photograph uploaded by local celebrity DJ, Lim Peifen.
She was shook to discover that the DJ’s son had been granted entry into the same attraction despite dawning improper footwear. Like her son, the DJ’s son was also wearing open-toed sandals.
Jewel Changi Airport and Lim Peifen Subject to Netizen’s Criticisms
Kailin’s post was shared on the platform, All Singapore Stuff. The post has since been deleted.
Jewel Changi Airport and Lim Peifen then became subject to criticisms from netizens who bashed them for having “double standards” and for “preferential treatment”.
As a response, Lim commented on the post with the following.
Lim has also issued a statement of her Facebook page where she explained her side of things to the angered netizens.
She explained that they had not been given any sort of special treatment by the management. Like any other visitor to the attraction, she had queued up for the Snow Walk.
She also mentioned that she had seen other parents with children who had been wearing open-toed sandals.
Lim ended the post saying, “I am happy to follow clear, well-defined sages measures for all activities, and I hope that rules are always well-enforced.”
A Jewel spokesman has also clarified that the incident was merely an “oversight” by the staff. Jewel’s topmost priority is for visitors to safely enjoy its facilities and attractions.
Jewel’s Guest Relations has since gotten in touch with Kailin on the incident.
Netizen Has Accepted Explanations From Parties
Upon hearing the sides of all parties, Kailin updated that she has since accepted them. She will not be pursuing the matter further.
Well, that was a rollercoaster of events.
Surely, Jewel Changi Airport will take this as a learning point for its staff. It’s only normal for there to be confusion over brand new attractions.
Here’s to hoping that nothing of this sort surfaces again anytime soon!
And kudos to Peifen for responding so professionally!
