Teenager’s Harrowing Experience in Chalet Brawl Exposed, Mother Vows Justice
Violence is never a solution, yet it seemed a forgotten principle for some teenagers involved in a recent brawl in Changi.
If you thought that the Magazine Road brawl between 11 grown men was dramatic enough, take a look at this one.
On the evening of 17 Nov, around 9pm, a large group of over 100 teenagers, aged 14 to 15, gathered at the Civil Service Club (CSC) chalet on Leuchars Road in Changi for a Friday night event.
During this gathering, four teenage girls ganged up on a 15-year-old girl, resulting in physical and psychological harm. The assault caused the victim’s eyes and nose to bleed.
The Incident Unfolded
Captured in various videos uploaded to platforms like TikTok and Facebook, the victim, dressed in a black crop top, was surrounded by four other girls, all in white crop tops.
One of the assailants was seen pulling the victim’s hair while she crouched on the ground, accusing her of lying and forcefully pushing her away.
As the victim attempted to stand, saying, “but I didn’t know,” in a defensive tone, she was again pushed to the ground by another girl who grabbed her arm and hair.
This second assailant hurled profanities and accused the victim of lying.
Subsequently, another girl kicked the victim as she lay on the ground, visibly frightened and trying to shield her head from the ongoing assault.
During the altercation, one of the attackers even complained about losing a nail extension from punching the victim.
Despite this, the assault continued unabated.
The victim, appearing immobilised by fear, could only mention needing to leave as her mother was calling.
She slowly tried to escape, but the assailants followed, with one threatening to inform her mother of the supposed wrongdoing.
According to interviews conducted by Shin Min Daily News, the fight may have stemmed from misunderstandings.
Besides physical injuries, the victim also suffered significant psychological trauma.
Bystanders or Paparazzi?
Instead of intervening, many bystanders, predominantly teenage boys, recorded the incident, some even seeming excited and entertained by the violence.
A few shouted about paying to watch, while others used their phone lights to illuminate the scene.
While some girls appeared to be associated with the assailants and made minimal efforts to stop the fight, most onlookers did not actively intervene.
As the victim and her assailants moved away from the scene, the crowd followed, shouting for them to remain.
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the victim’s mother stated that her daughter had called for help.
Upon the mother’s arrival, police and ambulance services were already present.
Initially refusing hospital care due to shock, the victim later sought emergency treatment at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital after feeling unwell at home.
After a three-day hospital stay, the victim was discharged on 20 Nov.
The victim’s mother affirmed that the matter is now with the police, and she intends to pursue it to its conclusion.
