The 2024 Star Awards took place on Sunday, 21 April.
The award show saw a number of regional artists, namely K-pop boy band (SHINee) leader Onew, Taiwanese singer Chao Chuan, Taiwanese actor Chen Bolin, and Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh.
The four were guest performers and/or award presenters.
When overseas guests visit Singapore, we always ask them what they’ve eaten and what else they would like to eat here.
In an interview, Onew revealed that he has tried chicken rice and laksa. He also said he would like to try crab too.
Seems like he knows what’s the good stuff.
Another international guest at the Star Awards, Charmaine Sheh, also went to try some of our local delicacies, but you’ll never guess where she went.
Actually, maybe can guess lah.
Where do tourists go for local food when they’re in Singapore?
Reader: … Confirm is Lau Pa Sat right?
Yup, that’s right.
Charmaine Sheh Had Supper At Lau Pa Sat
After the Star Awards concluded, the Hong Kong star had supper at Lau Pa Sat (also known as Telok Ayer Market).
On her Instagram story, Charmaine Sheh posted a picture of herself holding a plate of satay, with a caption saying: “It’s rare for me to come to Singapore, so I must have my fill of local food”.
On her Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, she shared more pictures of her supper there and said Lau Pa Sat is her go-to late-night snack spot every time she’s in Singapore.
She said the market has a lot of different delicacies from Singapore and Malaysia, which is “perfect for a foodie like (her).”
In the same post, she said that because it has been quite long since the last time she was in Singapore, she immediately agreed when she was invited to be a Star Awards presenter.
“I wanted to come to Singapore and celebrate actors’ achievements, but on the other hand, I really really missed Singapore’s food.”
After one week overseas, I already crave bak chor mee, so I can’t even imagine how strong her cravings must be after such a long time.
Charmaine Sheh Ate Other Local Delicacies
Sheh departed from Singapore last night (22 April), so she didn’t really have a lot of time here.
However, when there’s a will, there’s a way – Sheh managed to stuff herself with even more local delights following her Lau Pa Sat supper.
Yesterday, Sheh posted more pictures via Instagram stories, showing the local food she ate before flying off.
“My favourite chilli cream crab!!” One caption reads.
“I only had half a day in Singapore, so I had to eat two meals within five hours. I feel like I did a good job,” the next caption reads.
Singapore is truly a paradise for foodies, and Charmaine Sheh seems pretty serious about eating all the good grub here.
