I‘m not a food writer, and I probably will never be. My expertise in food lies more in eating than writing about them. #GodHonestTruth

But I decided I’ll try it because I’ve just visited the outlet at Marina Square recently with enough people to try out a huge (read: obscene) amount of food.

Here goes nothing.

Crispy, Well-Seasoned, Tender & Juicy Fried Chicken

Think crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside fried chicken with amazing sides like onion rings, savoury rice, sweet potato fries and curly fries.

Customers who’ve been there, including me, love how the batter is delightfully crispy and well-seasoned. Just a warning to people who can’t take spicy food well, their spicy chicken really gives you a kick so stay away if you can’t handle the heat.

The chicken is fresh, not frozen, and juicy enough to make people come back for more.

The only drawback is you’re not allowed to choose chicken parts. But really, all chicken parts from Chic-a-Boo is equally tender so it’s not really a drawback anyway.

Astons Standards Sides

Here’s a little-known fact about Chic-a-Boo: they’re opened by Astons which are well-known for their amazing sides.

Their sides are so good they have an Astons outlets charging you $10 higher for their mains in exchange for free-flow sides. And people go for it.

In fact, if you decide to give Chic-a-Boo a shot, I’d really recommend the savoury rice to go along with your chicken because it’s absolutely divine. Perfect for people who love the Fish & Co. savoury rice.

In fact, if I wasn’t so in love with their onion rings, I’d pick two savoury rice as my sides.

Okay wait, hold up, what am I talking about, you asked.

Which brings me to my next point: the price. Luckily (for us), Astons are known for two things: They provide delicious sides and they’re affordable.

Cheap & Affordable Set Meals

A two-piece chicken meal at Chic-a-Boo will set you back $7.90, which is around the same price for similar offerings in other fast food fried chicken outlets.

Their set meals come at an affordable price, and they give you a choice of two sides to go along with your meal.

In addition to that, you get a corn muffin as well. It’s sweet, fluffy and a perfect treat to finish off your meal.

In fact, don’t take my word for it. Just give this underrated fried chicken chain a shot and decide for yourself.
