Opening the emergency door of the plane
Fan yourself with…
Wait, what? OPENING THE DOOR OF A PLANE?
Yup, you heard that right, someone actually did that.
Lady Ignored Warning
Over in China, an air steward had gone around to passengers seated by the emergency doors to caution and remind them against touching the emergency door handle.
It wasn’t as if no one had warned the lady.
However, the lady ignored his warning after the steward walked away and proceeded to open the emergency door.
Thankfully the plane hasn’t taken off.

China Press reported that the flight was delayed for an hour due to the incident.
The plane was flying from Wuhan to Lanzhou, China on 23 September.
“Too Stuffy”
When asked why she did it, she simply said it was “too stuffy”.
The lady has since been taken in by the police for further questioning.
Here’s a video of the incident:

Opening A Door Mid-Flight
There wasn’t much out there about an opened door BEFORE the plane took off.
But there was PLENTY about opening a door mid-flight.
For those nervous flyers who have seen too many movies with airplane doors opening mid-flight, rest assured, it’s usually a myth.

Usually.
Simply put, doors on airplanes are usually designed to be sealed into place by the higher pressure inside the plane.
However according to BBC, this pressure-lock really only starts working at higher altitudes. Which means that if you were to open the door when the plane is still at a slightly lower altitude, you might still be able to open the door.
And even when that happens, there may be a small drop in the cabin’s pressure but not enough to trigger the deployment of oxygen masks. It would get very windy and cold.
The moral of the story?
Don’t itchy hands and open anything that you are not supposed to. And bring a fan along in case it gets too stuffy.
