Choa Chu Kang Residents Made a Cardboard House for Community Cat, Muscles

After days of hot and sunny weather, the downpour yesterday was a welcome sight. I know most of us enjoyed the rain from the inside of our homes (to be fair, it’s the best place to enjoy the rain), putting on a one-man musical by ourselves as Hamilton plays in the background.

Yes, I’ve gotten my hands on Disney+ and yes, I have to pry it from my (binge-watching-TheMandolorian) dad’s hands.

Psst, to find out more about the recently launched Disney+, click here.

But for our feline friends, the community cats who don’t have a home, they probably hate the rain. But thankfully for one macho cat in Choa Chu Kang, he was safely guarded against the storm with the help of the lovely residents.

Note: The writer couldn’t be happier as a black cat lover.

According to Mothership, the black cat was seen resting comfortably in its cardboard house by a resident in Choa Chu Kang.

Affectionately named Muscles, this is the cat’s second home after the first one was discarded.

The new house is decorated with cats, fishes and hearts on the roof in eye-catching colours! Truly peak artistry.

At the “doorway”, they’ve even added plants to further furnish the look!

The resident who made the house was the one to name the cat “Muscles”, but many other residents also have their own names for their purry friend! Some of these include “Pretty baby” and “Domino”.

Think this is cute? How about checking out this cat in a Hawaiian shirt?

You Can’t Spell Staycation Without Cat

On 18 January 2021, the Singapore Missing Cats Facebook group was alerted to a ginger cat chilling below a Tampines block, sporting a blue Hawaiian shirt.

While some cooed at the adorable sight, others were concerned for the cat’s welfare.

They noted that cats who roam outside should not wear clothes as they can get tangled and trap the cat. Especially for unsupervised cats.

The ginger cat, who looked grumpy enough, was also probably miserable in the hot Singapore weather.

The man who found the snazzy feline agreed and said in the comments section that he’d tried to remove the Hawaiian shirt, but was put off by the cat’s constant hissing.

He eventually managed to undo its top button.

Whether clothes are good or bad for cats seems to still be up for debate. Some owners might require them to prevent their cats from scratching or plucking their fur.

However, as pointed out earlier, clothes also obstruct ventilation and cause their cat to overheat. And we all know how terrible that feels.

Oh well. Whether in the cold rain or the hot sun, let’s show a little kindness to our community critters and help them out!
