Tourist Accused Orchard Road Aesthetics Clinic, ClearSK Aesthetics, of Physical Abuse & Bad Service

If you’ve been to TikTok recently, you might have come across a video of a woman in a bath cap clashing with a man outside a clinic. There was no context except that the man was asking the woman to leave while the woman refused to leave, daring the man to call the police, and asking him not to raise his voice at her.

Soon after, a Google review of the clinic was published:

But it still didn’t provide enough context, as it’s merely a negative review by a patient who claimed that the doctor didn’t know what she was doing.

The clinic responded, and “categorically deny all her allegations” but similarly, didn’t provide more context.

The clinic involved is a branch of ClearSK Aesthetics, a local aesthetic brand with multiple locations.

Now, the company’s Director and Chief Medical Advisor, Dr Shiau Ee Leng, 53, finally related what happened to Shin Min Daily News.

How it All Started, According to ClearSK Aesthetics

Dr Shiau revealed that the woman first came to their Orchard Road branch for consultation on 12 June and purchased a treatment package worth over $3,000.

On the same day, she completed a hyaluronic acid injection for the woman.

According to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, hyaluronic acid is used to “reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, facial folds, and to create structure, framework, and volume to the face and lips.”

“The patient emphasized that she wanted a natural result, so I injected a small amount. She was satisfied and left, but unexpectedly sent over 40 messages to my staff in the early morning of the next day (13 June). She said her chin was too sharp and her face was sunken after the hyaluronic acid injection, and requested that I dissolve it.”

Dr Shiau explained that swelling after the operation is common and the patient should have waited a few days to observe.

However, the woman seemed nervous, so Dr Shiau agreed to allow the woman to return for a check-up. Yet, the woman suddenly claimed that her face was fine and scheduled another check-up for 19 June.

“On that day, she insisted on having the acid dissolved during her revisit. I refused based on professional judgment, and she then lost control of her emotions, causing a scene at the clinic. The male staff member came to mediate and asked her to leave after receiving a notification.”

That was probably when the video was filmed.

Dr Shiau revealed that the woman began cursing at the front desk staff as soon as she arrived at the clinic and continued to berate her in the treatment room, exhibiting a very emotional state.

“She used very foul language, cursing at me for more than 10 minutes. In my 25 years of practice, I have never encountered such a customer. Although the male staff’s handling may have been inappropriate, the video only shows part of the truth.

“At that time, the woman was completely uncommunicative, we were worried that she would lose control, which could pose a danger to me, my colleagues, or other customers, which is why we asked her to leave immediately,” she said.

They then reported the incident to the police afterwards, stating that they will retain the right to legal action.

She also pointed out that two days before the woman caused a scene at the clinic, she had already started to denigrate the clinic on the social media platform “Xiaohongshu“, which is used by many people in China and Malaysia, and also the Chinese-speaking community in Singapore.

According to three related posts, she said that the staff at the clinic had a bad attitude, were “shameless”, and urged netizens to avoid the clinic.

“We asked her to remove these posts, and have reported this incident to the police. We will retain the right to legal action and consult lawyers on how to resolve this issue through legal means.”

The Patient’s Response

Shin Min Daily News managed to contact the woman, who refused to reveal her name. She claimed that she came from China for a local tour and arranged the aesthetic treatment during her free time.

The woman complained that the clinic charges high fees with poor results. She even accused the doctor of making mistakes in the injection site, which is why she insisted on dissolving it (this was also mentioned in the Google review).

“She twisted my chin, and it took me a few days to restore it to its normal state. The other two injections were supposed to be in my tear troughs, but she injected them at the base of my nose. I asked for dissolution because she injected in the wrong place, is that too much?”

The woman claimed that the male staff member not only drove her away but also pushed her. She later posted a “negative review” on Xiaohongshu and threatened to sue the clinic.

She said during the interview, “At that time, I was in the middle of communicating with the doctor in the clinic, the man in the video suddenly burst in, yelled at me and ‘physically’ drove me out of the clinic.

“The male staff member was arrogant, he even pushed me from behind. When I picked up my phone to record evidence, he came around to my front, and they said they were going to call the police. I waited for one hour and the police did not arrive, so I left.”

As for the Xiaohongshu posts, she stated, “I won’t remove the posts on Xiaohongshu. I’m a customer, how can they scold me like that? I will return to Singapore to handle this matter, and I will definitely hire a lawyer to sue.”

Moreover, she completely denied Dr Shiau’s claim that she was verbally abusive and lost control, and said that she was just “a little rushed when speaking”.
