Taiwanese Actress Gains 5kg During CNY & Loses 3kg in 6 Days After CNY

There’s no shame in pretending you’re a Mukbang star like Stephanie Soo or Zermatt Neo whenever you’re having dinner.

While some complain about the gross ASMR eating sounds filling your ears, the burning question plagues us all: how can they eat that much food without looking the slightest bit…round?

Taiwanese actress, singer and television star Joe Chen has cracked the code, losing as much as 3kg in just six days.

Nutritional Portions

Aside from stunning #ootds, fans turned to Chen’s Weibo to see what she eats on the daily.

The humble queen acknowledged that she did gain 5kg after indulging in delicious meals during Chinese New Year with her husband last month.

She shared that her calories mostly came from protein sources such as prawns, eggs and tofu. Her discipline is commendable as she never compromises eating her fruits and vegetables.

The only thing she avoids? Starch.

This makes sense because studies have shown that eating more protein can help you feel full for longer, reducing the need to reach out for high-sugar snacks every few minutes for some energy. Meanwhile, starch increases your blood sugar and tempts your body to store it for longer.

Mindful Eating

Joe Chen, like the rest of us, stated that exercise isn’t a go-to weight-loss remedy. She prefers to control her diet. She wasn’t ashamed of admitting that she felt a little down during her diet but stressed the importance of committing to the weight loss journey.

Chen noted that it’s okay to indulge once in a while and prioritise taking care of the mind. Therefore, she suggests doing diets in intervals and according to your own pace.

Slow and steady wins the race. While Joe Chen’s weight loss trick sounds too good to be true, comparing ourselves to celebrities isn’t realistic or healthy – after all, it’s like comparing apples to oranges.

Lifestyle changes, such as adequate hydration and sleep, can play significant roles in your weight loss journey. After all, as Bruno Mars wisely sings, you’re beautiful “just the way you are”.

And yes, exercising helps a little, but not that much. Watch this to the end and you’d understand:
