Just this morning (Feb 22), another travel agency closed its doors.
Konsortium is a travel agency specialising in coach trips to our neighbouring country Malaysia.
The head office at Golden Mile Tower was closed and lights were turned off this morning, according to The Straits Times.
There was a notice on the door:
“We are sorry to inform that the company have went into financial crisis and will cease operation on all services will immediate effect.
To the affected passengers with unfulfilled trips, please make claim from your travel insurance (if any) or refer to small claims tribunal to lodge your refund.
We are deeply apologetic for the sudden closure and we seek your forgiveness.”
CNY period
Last month, it was reported that Konsortium’s coach tickets for the Chinese New Year Eve period had almost sold out.
The company is believed to be a favourite choice for many Malaysians when returning home.
Well, at least they closed down after CNY.
Just imagine the number of people stranded in Singapore if they were to do so before that!
Thumbs up for hanging there for the customers!
Helping each other
The Express Bus Agencies Association (EBAA), whom Konsortium is a member of, said that a large number of their other members will provide free trips for those that have already bought tickets with Konsortium.
This will continue until 1 March 2018.
A spokesman for the association said that they only knew about the closure this morning, and have been unable to get in touch with the company.
“Our focus now is on helping any affected travellers the best we can,” he said.
A large number of people is expected to be affected as Konsortium is one of the biggest coach companies in Singapore.
Unlike the other one
Remember back in 2014 when Five Stars Tours closed down?
Well this time around, at least Konsortium put up a notice with solutions, instead of just leaving their customers hanging.
