Two days ago, CFC (NS) Aloysius Pang died after a freak accident in New Zealand while performing his reservist duties.

Immediately after his demise, local actress Jayley Woo posted a moving eulogy on the day of his passing, with the location tagged to Waikato Hospital and a caption that suggests a long relationship she has with Aloysius.

It comes as a surprise to many as Aloysius has not gone public on whether he’s attached, and was told by his manager that he “wasn’t allowed to date”.

According to Jayley’s Instagram Stories, they have wanted to make their relationship public only after they’ve got married, and Jalyley’s sister mentioned that Aloysius has wanted to marry Jayley when he turns 31—and unfortunately, he’ll never have that chance.

This heartwrenching reveal has undoubtedly make Aloysius’ passing even harder to digest, for his demise has not only affected his family but a sweet relationship as well.

Media outlets have been very sympathetic, with some posting videos that’ll bring a tear to anyone watching it.

But it seems like beyond the optics of the media, one reporter has been pestering for a scoop relentlessly.

Jayley’s Instagram Stories Reveal

Jayley has been very active on Instagram since Aloysius’ passing, posting numerous Instagram Stories that reminds us again about the loss of our Singaporean son and her beloved late boyfriend.

She has mentioned that reporters have been turning up at her Singapore house, but one reporter, who has her number, went beyond that.

He messaged Jayley, and let’s just say that he’s given a bad name to reporters.

Reporter’s Insensitive Pestering

According to Jayley’s IG Story, it seemed to start from an innocent “u can talk” that escalated quickly to a self-entitled and cold-blooded request filled with moral lessons that aren’t moral.

Lest you can’t read it (and with translation if required):

Reporter: u can talk?
Reporter: hihi sorry it is a terrible time but appreciate if u can talk for three mins

(about two hours later)

Reporter: I understand you may be very very sad. So u reveal everything…And now u catch attention of everyone.. But then u wont answer a jiurnalist who tries to make sure every(thing) he writes is factual
Reporter: No Aloysius would not hove done it this way or to me. Not to some one he knows or respects i believe
Reporter: Everyone is sad. But i cherish every chance I can write about him, not to regret any mindless mistakes later

Jayley: Sure you do, dear Bro
Jalyley: It’s my way of remembering him when I lost most of the photos but kept the memories. Say what you want, Bro, but please don’t sensationalize his story. When he got injured, it felt like you were using him for a few days of headlines and I didn’t purse that. But for this incident, I really cannot take it anymore; please understand.

Reporter: Isn’t that the price of being a public figure?
Reporter: When you want the media to write something, it’s fine. But when you don’t want the media to write anything, you think the media is using you
Reporter: How can that be?

Jayley: Celebrities are humans, too. You’re right about that but I’m a human, too, Bro. And I’ve mentioned that I won’t answer any media inquiries; I hope you’d understand

Reporter: People only die once; shouldn’t a reporter make sure that the last article about that person is accurate?
Reporter: You sure you’ve the mindset of a celebrity?
Reporter: I’m sorry; I know you’re sad, but who isn’t?

Jayley: I can’t provide anything for the record, Bro. No, honestly I think I’ve accidentally become a celebrity instead

Following that, Jayley posted a follow up:

Reporter: So you’ll rather us to write from hearsay that’s inaccurate?
Reporter: And then have us be scolded for making use of you or Aloyisus?

Jayley: Maybe it’s already done
Jalyley: I can’t think well now
Jayley: If I’ve done anything that offend you, I’m sorry

Reporter: Can we talk?

Jayley: But I don’t answer to anyone
Jalyley: Including you

Reporter: Of course

Jayley: There are other reporters as well, Bro. I respect them all

Reporter: But in the end, it’s due to your incompetence to handle this

Jayley: After you’re rejected, you continue to rub in my wound

Report: And you become what?

Jaylay: Bro, you never stop

Reporter: You can’t just blame the media
Reporter: You should blame yourself, too

Jayley: It’s okay, I’ve said it before: in this world, I’m only indebted to my parents

Pretty shocking, if you think about it.

Reporter Apologised on Instagram

You can bet that netizens immediately CSI-ed the reporter out, and it turns out that he’s not a rookie but a senior entertainment correspondent of a Chinese Daily.

Since a person does not represent a company, and people tend to blame the company when it’s an individual’s fault, we won’t be naming the company.

Nevertheless, the reporter has since apologised after much backlash in two Instagram posts.

The first:

Translation:

Regarding the incident with Jayley, I’ll apologise to her personally for the hurt I’ve caused to her. When I was communicating with her, I might have rushed through it and didn’t explain clearly which could result in misunderstanding. I’ll personally explain to her.

It’s a reporter’s job to seek an interview with the victim’s family members and that’s one of the toughest things to do. I can’t say that I’m inexperienced, but I might have been too careless this time.

And the second:

I’ll take full responsibility for this. I can accept all the online criticisms directed at me, but I need to stress that this has nothing to do with my family and my excellent colleagues. My colleagues might not approve of what I do, so please don’t harm them. If not, you’re no different from the “me” that you’ve criticized. Please also don’t invade anyone’s privacy or do anything illegal rashly, if not you might regret it. Some people have accused me of things I’ve not done through the comments, so please be critical about comments online and think them though calmly for the truh. I’ll only take responsibly for the things I’ve done. I’ve disturbed you guys; thanks.

Well, at least the case’s closed, no?
