As a student, you will always feel that your world and the teachers’ worlds are miles apart. You play games and get scolded at home while they always seemed to be at school.
Maybe they are robots that never leave school.
Little did you know, your teachers play the same games as you. Some of them might even be a gamer.
How to identify if your teacher is a gamer:
- You see Steam or Epic Games on their desktop
- They come up with gaming related questions like this teacher in Vietnam did
A teacher decided to add a CS:GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) related question in the math exam paper to make exams more interesting.
Instead of boring exam questions where Mary decides to panic buy 200 packs of instant noodles and 1000 rolls of toilet paper, you see this on your paper:
“Question: A player is holding a Desert Eagle and facing an enemy. Each shot he fires has 50% chance of hitting the enemy. If the shot is accurate, there’s also a 20% chance of headshot which will kill the target immediately, otherwise, it requires 3 shots to take down the enemy. What’s the probability of the player to take down the enemy in 7 shots?” – Translated by Reddit user u/workerq1
Bleh, probability.
Still, if I were to see a math question that is related to my interests, I would probably perk up immediately in an exam.
Questionable Answers to the CS:GO Question
According to AFK Gaming, the question has “taken the CS:GO community by storm” as many members have been racking their brains to find the most accurate answer to the question.
Clearly, teachers should probably learn from this to trick everyone into doing math.
The question was uploaded to the CS:GO community on Reddit, which has since gained 5.5k upvotes and nearly 300 comments.
Many have posted their own answers and workings to the question in the comment section below.
Despite coming up with varying answers (that also differed from the 4 given options on the paper), users agreed that the player was playing in an eco-round due to the use of the Desert Eagle.
Confused? Yeah, me too.
From what I’ve read (really sorry if it’s inaccurate), eco-rounds refer to a round where all players in a team refrain from buying any kind of items in order to save money. “Eco” means economical in this case rather than ecological.
This allows the team to save money for the next round, in which they can proceed to buy weaponry, armour or other items for a better chance at winning.
The Desert Eagle, as mentioned in the question, is a rather powerful but expensive pistol in the game.
As the player’s opponents do not actively attack him, many also concluded he was playing with passive bots.
Many users concluded that 84.34% was the most likely answer, though some jokingly added that the probability of taking down the enemy would be 0% if they were the player.
u/workerq1 also noted that so far, the original poster on Facebook has not confirmed the correct answer. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see.
