If you’ve no idea what the COVID-19 Support Grant is, congratulations; you’re still holding a job amidst this trying period. But unlike you, there are many who’ve lost their jobs and need temporary help while they search for a new job.
The COVID-19 Support Grant, also known as CSG, had started in May and application for the grant was supposed to end after 30 September.
But last month, DPM Heng announced that the grant will be extended to 31 December 2020.
You can find out more about the grant here, or watch this video that we’ve done (and also subscribe to our YouTube channel for more informative videos, please?):
In a nutshell, if you lose your job or suffer a significant income loss due to COVID-19, you can get up to $800 a month for three months. During this period, you should search for a new job.
From May to August, over $90 million have been disbursed to over 60,000 residents.
With this extension comes a new set of eligible criteria, too.

In addition, if you’ve applied and got the CSG support, you can apply for an additional 3 months of support if you fulfil the new criteria—which, to be honest, isn’t exactly difficult unless you’re one who treats the Government as ATM.
