3 Shopping Malls In Orchard Visited By Infectious Covid-19 Cases, One Visited 3 Times Within 4 Days

Yesterday continues the trend of a drop in (or at least, a stable, consistent decline in) of the number of cases being reported daily.

However, that doesn’t mean we should let down our guards because as the past few weeks has shown, Covid-19 doesn’t take to staying indoors well.

It’s been to jalan jalan at USS, shopping malls, and eating out at many eateries in Singapore.

Yesterday, it was made known that the coronavirus has taken the chance to shop around the Orchard area too.

ION, Lucky Plaza & Muji At Paragon Visited By Infectious Covid-19 Cases

On 25 Sep 2020, the Ministry of Health (MOH) added three new locations to their list of places visited by Covid-19 cases during their infectious phase.

They are all malls in the main shopping strip of Singapore:

  • ION Orchard on 18 Sep, 1.55pm to 4.05pm
  • Lucky Plaza on 18 Sep, 4.05pm to 4.55pm / 19 Sep, 6.25pm to 7.20pm / 21 Sep, 10am to 5.55pm
  • MUJI at Paragon on 19 Sep, 6pm to 6.35pm

Yes, Lucky Plaza recorded 3 visits within 4 days. Definitely a popular mall, although in this context, it’s not a good thing.

All close contacts have already been identified, MOH says.

If you’ve visited the same area within the same timeframe, MOH asks that you monitor your health for the next 14 days.

See a doctor immediately if you think that you’re experiencing any symptoms, no matter how mild.

You don’t have to avoid these places as the National Environment Agency (NEA) would’ve gotten in touch with the operators of the locations to do a thorough cleaning.

Breakdown Of Cases Reported On 25 Sep 2020

There were only 11 new cases reported yesterday.

Community Cases:

No community cases were reported yesterday (25 Sep 2020).

The number of new cases in the community has remained stable at fewer than 1 case per day over the past 2 weeks.

The number of unlinked cases, similarly, remained stable at fewer than 1 per day over the past two weeks.

Imported Cases:

Both cases arrived in Singapore on 13 Sep 2020.

One was from India while the other came from the Philippines.

Both were placed on Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) immediately upon arrival in Singapore and were tested positive during their SHN.

Migrant Workers Staying In Dormitories:

A vast majority of the cases from dormitories have been identified and ring-fenced earlier.

According to MOH, 7 of the dormitory cases were identified as contacts of previously-confirmed cases and has been placed on quarantine earlier.

The remaining two were detected through MOH’s surveillance testing such as the bi-weekly testing of migrant workers living in dormitories.

Previously, Minister Lawrence Wong had said that as long as they continue to implement regular testing, the number of cases from the dormitories will drop.

Overall S’pore Situation

A total of 8 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities (CCFs).

This brings the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases to 57,341.

Currently, there are 29 confirmed Covid-19 cases who are still hospitalised, none in the intensive care unit.

There are another 268 Covid-19 cases being isolated and cared for at CCFs.

Doing some quick math, this means that out of the total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore, 99.4% has recovered from the coronavirus.
