How long will Covid-19 last? 1 year? 2 years?

If you’re hoping that this nightmare will pass by in a month or two, I’ve got some news for you.

A group of medical experts have stepped forward to share their opinion in a new report.

Here’s what they have to say:

There are two things that were made clear in their report:

  • Covid-19 will last for as long as two years
  • it’ll be uncontrollable until 2/3 of the world is immune to it.

They said that Covid-19 could potentially stay beyond 2022 “in waves”.

Meaning it could ebb and flow, and experience periodic surges.

Governments, they add, should incorporate the fact that Covid-19 is around to stay for the next two years in their messages towards their people.

Uncontrollable Virus

The reason why Covid-19 is such a difficult coronavirus to beat is that people are able to spread the virus even when they show no symptoms.

In fact, the report said that people could be at their most infectious just before the symptoms start showing.

And that’s bad news because if you remember, most of our defences, be it temperature-screening, health declaration or asking people not to go to work when they’re sick, all depends on the symptoms surfacing before they can be caught.

Wait For Vaccines Or Herd Immunity

So if you’re looking at the number of Covid-19 cases yesterday and thinking, ahhh, the local community cases seems to be under control le. Time to party like Show Luo.

Don’t.

Because for the next two years, Covid-19 virus might just be like Arnold Schwarzenegger

Researchers and scientists around the world are now rushing against the clock trying to create the vaccine for Covid-19.

The authors of the reports also said that the virus will not stop until it has infected 60 to 70 per cent of the world’s population and enough people are immune to the virus.

As for vaccines, while it can help alter the course of the virus, they believe the earliest the vaccines can be made available for the coronavirus would be in 2021.

TL; DR:

Let’s settle down and buckle up for a long ride.

Masks are probably going to be part of our fashion wardrobe for a long time to come, so you might want to start shopping online for some nicely designed ones.
