9 COVID-19 Cases Today (16 Oct): 8 Imported Cases & Still No Community Case

It’s the middle of October and we can proudly say that single-digit daily cases are now the norm.

Today (16  October 2020), as of 12 pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 9 new cases of COVID-19 infection.

This brings the total number of cases to 57,901.

8 are imported cases, and none of them is from the community. The remaining 1 case is a dorm case.

On average, based on yesterday’s numbers, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from an average of 1 case per day in the week before, to an average of fewer than 1 per day in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased from an average of fewer than 1 case per day in the week before, to none in the past week.

No Case in ICU and 100 People Still Recovering

As of yesterday, 57,764 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 36 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and none is in the intensive care unit.

64 are isolated and cared for at community facilities and these are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.

28 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
