21 New Covid-19 Cases Reported Today (22 Sep); 2nd Day Where There’s No Community Cases

As of 12pm on 22 Sep 2020, the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 21 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 57,627.

For the second day in a row, Singapore did not report any community cases.

There is 1 new imported case who has been placed on Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore.

This is a sharp drop from the 9 imported cases reported yesterday.

Case Details On 21 Sep 2020

There are no community cases reported yesterday (21 Sep 2020).

Imported Cases

There were 9 imported cases reported yesterday (21 Sep), all of whom have been placed on Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore, with a majority of them coming to Singapore from India.

One is a Singapore PR who returned from India on 9 Sep.

Four are work pass or work permit holders who returned to Singapore from India on 9 Sep, or Iran on 15 Sep.

Two more are dependant’s pass holders who returned from India on 9 Sep and Iran on 15 Sep.

The remaining two imported cases are student’s pass holders who came to Singapore from India on 9 Sep.

Workers Living In Dormitories

Among the remaining 22 cases residing in dormitories, 16 are contacts of previously-confirmed cases and were placed on quarantine earlier.

The remaining six cases were detected through MOH’s surveillance testing.

13 of these cases are linked to the Avery Lodge Dormitory cluster, which now has 128 confirmed infections linked to it.

1 Case Removed From Tally

On 21 Sep 2020, the total number of cases in Singapore was 57,607.

However, one Covid-19 case has been removed from the total tally.

According to MOH, Case 57679’s first test returned a “borderline positive” result.

Two subsequent swab tests on him returned negative.

That was when laboratory experts and an expert panel decided that he was a “false-positive” case.

Initially, he was detected under the enhanced community surveillance where every individual, aged 13 and above, will have to undergo the swab test if he or she visits a doctor for acute respiratory infection (ARI).

With the removal, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore now stands at 57,606.

USS & Plaza Singapura Visited By Infectious Covid-19 Cases

Two more places were added to MOH’s list of places visited by Covid-19 cases during their infectious phase:

• Universal Studio Singapore on 10 Sep 2020 from 2.35pm to 8.35pm
• Nanjing Restaurant at Plaza Singapura on 11 Sep from 7pm to 7.50pm

If you have been in the areas during the same timeframe, monitor your health for the next 14 days and see a doctor if you exhibit even the slightest symptoms.

There’s no need to avoid the places as the National Environment Agency (NEA) would’ve gotten in touch with the operator of the places to thoroughly clean the location.
